Hi, Im new to Forums, but thought id give this ago. Im making a claim against Halifax, i sent my letter on friday asking for all my charges and dates and amounts etc, But reading all the different web pages etc it seems like it could be quite tricky!
So really just wanting to know.... have you claimed (anyone whos reading) and is it worth paying a company to do it for me? My Claim will be for somewhere around £6000, but not totally sure of the amount until the bank send me my statements so i really dont want to mess it up!
Any advice would be appreciated!

Why don't you wait for your statements and whilst you are doing so, use the time to read around the forums. You will have a much better understanding of the correct procedures by the time they arrive.
You could pay someone to do it for you. They charge 20 - 25% of your claim. In other words, on £6000 you would pay somebody between
£1200 and £1500 for writing a couple of letters.
Good value? For the ghouls it is.
But why should you be satisfied with just a loaf of bread, when you could have the butter and jam to put on it, as well?
Spend a couple of days reading the FAQs and the step by step guide. That will show you how easy it is. If you follow, faithfully, the well-tried and tested procedures that we recommend, you will be successful (We've not had a failure,yet).
Start your own "battle-thread" in the Halifax Bank Forum. Call it.....

Read some of the longer threads in the Halifax forum to get a feel for the action. If you have any questions,just post them on your own thread and someone will give you any advice you need.
At the end of this, you will wonder why you ever doubted yourself.

It's a self-help forum, where it's always better to find out for yourself before starting to do anything. People will chip in and answer questions, but it stands out like a sore thumb that you've not really understood what you're doing by asking very basic questions.
You can do it yourself, why pay someone? There are merchants out there who will happily take a chunk of anything they get back for you, but chances are they are only doing what is advised here anyway.
In post 6 of that thread you'll find the links to the step by step instructions and the FAQ's, which are always a good place to start.
If you do get stuck, by all means ask. For now, do as Mum suggests, and read LOTS on these forums. It will be worthwhile to you.

Welcome to the site. I only joined last month, and thought I'd never get any charges back! Please take a look at my thread - jaxads - and see how it can be done. You do need to spend lots of time reading through the threads to get an idea of what to expect, but hey, I've never done anything like this before and in just over a month I've been offered the full amount of £2281. You'll be fine, just keep reading the forums and asking questions. There's loads of sound advice, help and support here. Go and claim what is rightfully yours!!!!!! Best wishes. jaxads xx

Personally i wouldnt go through anyone else. I looked around at the begining of my claim, most companies charge up to 40%.
Once you have read and reread the F&Qs and read some of the threads, especially the longer ones, you will get a better idea of what you need to do.
Also there are people on here who can help you all the way, even with the daft questions!
Everyone is worried at first, but its not that hard once you get a rough idea through the reading.
