Thread: Ryan Air cancel flight

Had a phone call from a friend who is in Ireland with his wife and two kids and was coming home tonight till Ryanair cancelled his flight no prior warning at all when he turned up at the airport to check in. Needless to say he is not at all happy as he said they were notified by one of the airport staff handing them a brief note from RA just saying flight cancelled next available flight is 4th Jan!!!
I had to have a look round the web to try and get fights for him and his family which i did through ebookers at a cost of £1114.40 + 60.00 ticket issuing charge (although they dont get tickets) and a 1.5% charge for using a CC . So at least they will be home tommorrow. I dread to think what other people will do it must be havoc at Cork airport.

Have EJ offered a refund on the sector of flight that will no be used? You may not know this yourself as yet, but I would be asking for a refund, costs, and a full explanation if it were me!!

I think without doubt that will happen or it will be a trip to the county court. There also seems to be a possibility that the money can be reclaimed through the Insurance policy, but why should Ryanair get away with shirking their responsibilities.

My friend to date has recieved about £24 in refunds (for the booking fee) under the EU directive re cancelled flights, and he is looking into further action.
Will keep you informed as to what happens.
