    Default DCA Phone call

    Hi all,

Today I got a phone callicon of a company called DCAicon. Originally I said I was my brother (who I share a house with). I'm got a vague idea of who they are as I owe orangeicon £45, but am disputing this as i'm not sure if they have charged me for an extra month.

Needless to say, DCA wouldn't tell me who they are, what the initials stood for or what they were after, stating it was a personal call.

The girl insisted that it was important that I ring an 0870 number and gave me a reference number.

I've read some of the other posts and subsequently will be careful not to be bullied into paying for something I don't think I should.

My question is, does anyone know if DCA have a habit of buying debt off orange and does it have any tricks up its sleeve that it can use to make me pay while I find out if the amount owed is correct.

    Cheers for your help

    Good luck all

If they won't tell you who they are and are insisting you call an 0870 number, which is a sort of premium rate numbericon, tell to get stuffed.

Once they are off the line 1471 the barstewards and get their number onto Ofcom, the telephone regulator, and complain about their behaviour. A slap around the chops from Oftel is usually accompanied by a demand for money.

If it is a debt for a relatively small sum don't let it get out of hand. Insist orangeicon deal with it by providing whatever details you need to sort it out. In writing to Orange, never phone to dispute anything, point out you will not accept the matter being handed to debt collectorsicon and added charges will be ignored. If they do so and they slap on these charges a judge would look on their actions as being unreasonable and slap them for costs.

    Angry Re: DCA Phone call

    Hello all,

Just thought i'd drop a line to ask for some feedback. Since I last wrote, I have been hounded by regular phone callsicon from DLC demanding the money they claim to be outstanding. I then received a letter saying that a lesser amount would be accepted "To fully settle the debt".

Despite paying it, I still get phone callsicon stating I have an outstanding balance, and I even received a letter this morning claiming further the difference between the original amount and the amount they offered to settle on.

Furthermore, the letter received today states "an agent may be instructed to call at your address to collect the amount owed" and that I have to call them on 0870 746 9049 in the next 72 hours to avoid this.

I guess what i'm asking is does anyone have any advice on how to handle this.

Many thanks for all your help

    Which DCAicon is it ???

It is ther bully boy tatics that really get me....

Anyway, let me know which company it is and I will try and find their email address...

As in one of my threads... All it can take is one email to stop the phone callsicon.

Also do you have anything in writing about your repayment agreement ?

    Hi Haddona,

If its DLC, it sounds like Direct Legal and Collections. Let me know if you need any more info.
