Hi all,
I have just spent the last couple of hours going throuhg my statements, charges over the last 6 years total just of £3K, cannot believe that in one month Natwest charged me over £500, i am sure that this was the reason i had to remortgage and pay ERC, anyway i will deal with that later. Prelim letter ready to be sent, can this be hand delivered to any natwest bank? i do not live anywhere near the branch i opened the account with or should i send it to the head office.
Hi There good luck
When i first started my quest i sent everything to Bishopsgate, and got swift replys.
Please do as much reading as you can in the faq section and other peoples stories, it will help you a lot.
There are lots of people willing to help through there own experiences
Like you I had a month where I paid over £500 and other months of £200 etc. I have just completed my list and will be handing it over the branch the one that closed my account, froze and than closed my 4 year old childs as well (the sins of the father and all that!!!).
I have seen a few address's that it can be posted to I would suggest that you read through other threads relating to Natwest. I believe that it can also be sent to the Bishopgate address.
You have obviously had a good read around ofthe site and areready for the process of reclaiming charges. Keep this thread updated so we can support youn on your way.
Thanks for that, will be sending the prelim letter today, have marked it on my calander for the lba. I have already opened a basic account, so Natwest can bring it on.
Just a quick one, on the prelim letter it has a part about interest charged, i do not wish to claim this as it is relatively small, and as i understand it only pu the 8% interest if it gets to the MCOL stage, is this right?
Yes you are corect - the interest charged is the proportion on an overdraft etc - if the charges roll over and over - if you are happy yours are small and are not wanting to reclaim them then go ahead as you are.
Well, no going back now, prelim letter signed for today, lba waiting until 12th Jan. Oh have just noticed Natwest will charge me another £28 on the 31st dec, can I add this to the list of charges in the LBA?
Yes you can amend the amount you wish to claim right up until the point of submitting your claim through the courts, make sure though that this doesn't make your claim longer than the 6 year limitation.
My first entry on my charges is the end of jan 2001, so should be o.k. have already started to transfer payments into new account and have cancelled all dd, so apart from that should not have any more charges, however probably have the £28 for the end of jan
The wait is over, had a reply from Natwest, on day 14 , stating sorry haven't looked at it, please give more time. Guess what lba being typed as I speak, also added another 3 charges, brings total to £3279 before interest. End of the month court action to start.
Letter from Borehamwood, should I send LBA to this address, sent first to Bishopsgate?
I too recived "the currently investigating" on Thursday!! Seems the have been busy over the Crimbo putting Prelim and lba's to one side hahaha

Just another update, received a reply from Mr Higley, saying they are considering my claim, no date no ref, he has up until 28th jan, then to MCOL, with more charge. Also as I have started to move items to my new account, they are starting to get miffed about the loan i have with them.
I am sure i read somewhere that up to 90 days you can cancel the ADV gold account and they have to refund all charges, does that mean also the £28 they charge u for being overdrawn, on my old account they did not charge me for over the o/d limit. also can i just phone or do i have to put it in wrtiing.
any help please

okay Zeddy lets try and understand what it is your asking here!!
1) Not sure if you have cancel ADV by phone or in writing. Best just going into branch and doing it there and then.
2) My understanding is that you can cancel/downgrade your acount when you want to. I guess the 90 days you are talking about relates to when you first take it out. I guess they may return the £12's you paid in this period. However not sure they will refund ALL the £12's you have ever paid if say you have been ADV for more than this period.
3) Do do you mean that you where never charged for going INTO your overdraft or they never charged you when you went BEYOND your overdraft limit? You will only be charged the standard £28's for Unauthorised Borrowing (ie going beyond your limit) its okay to go INTO your o/d, except you will be charged some intreast.
I hope this has been of help!!!
