Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
First of all, thanks for a great site. With any luck it should be guiding me on my way to getting £175 back off Alliance and Leicester.
So far I've issued a Subject access request to the bank, using the form letter provided on the site. I included a £10 cheque, which they appear not to have drawn yet (yay!). In return for this, a hefty envelope full of statements appeared through my letterbox (on about the 38th day - just in time for me to forget about it over xmas.... I think not).
So I waded through and added the charges up on a basic Excel sheet (really should have used one of the interest calculating ones on the site, but hey). Total charges for paid items, unauthorised overdrafts, etc came to £175 (7 @ £25). Interest on the overdrafts came to about a pound, so I'm not bothered about that.
I've just used the Initial Request form letter to send my request for the £175 into them, and we'll see what happens next. I adjusted the first deadline from 14 to 30 days, seeing as Christmas is a good excuse for them not to do anything about it.
So that's in the post now, and we'll just have to see what happens next....

I've had a good read round the site, and am pretty familar with court claims, although not s the claimant (very long story, don't ask). So with the information that's on here already, I'm quietly confident.
Thats good to hear.
Theres no need to give them 30 days though.

What can I say.... It's Christmas and I was feeling generous. I'm in no real rush for the money, I just want to score a point off them. So I thought I'd pre-empt what would be an obvious excuse for not getting back to me. Also, in the worst case, it would probably look good that I was accomodating to them, should it go to court.

Thanks for that, a hello sort of wanderred into conversation
In other news, dormant account at Natwest brought back to life (really ought to pay off that interest free overdraft they gave me 4 years ago and have never mentioned since), for parachute purposes. That way if A+L don't want a 4 figure sum of my money sat in a current account with them, they'll get a none-CAG template letter back from my correspondace secretary Vicky Pollard saying "Am I bovverred?"
Effectively, they seem to be putting the ball in my court. In my LBA, I stated I would proceed without further notice, so the next thing they're getting is a claim.
