Thread: Help needed re ID for EGG SAR

I'm getting myself ready to send Egg a S.A.R - (Subject access request) with a view to reclaiming charges on a credit card I had with them, but from reading other threads here it seems like they will stall by asking for ID and the advice is to avoid this by sending it up front with the S.A.R - (Subject access request).

How do I get round the fact that because I live in a shared place none of the bills come in my name, I have no catalogue/mail order accounts, my phone is PAYG and the only letters I get these days are from DCAs.

I'm really worried that the only thing I could send would be a bank statement from the HSBC account I use now (from a basic account that I opened less than a year ago when I started to get back on my feet and that has never been overdrawn or had any charges) and I don't want them to have knowledge of this account.

The only other ID I have is passport/driving licence but as they seem to demand originals I am really not happy about letting those go out of my posession.

Any suggestions? Should I send them one of the letters from the DCA who now holds my EGG debt?

Thanks for that countrybake - all the other threads seemed to say they wanted originals not copies but I'll send them copies of my birth cert & driving licence and hope that's enough for them.

I admit, I'm still tempted to send them a letter from their own DCA as proof of my address!
