    Question Can I claim back charges for default letters

    Sorry I couldn't find this on the FAQ's page. I've received a few default letters on my BOSicon Motgage account as well as a "Special Arrangement" fee costing £50. Can I treat these the same as the other charges?

    Overpriced charges for their costs is what it's all about. If you've been charged for them sending you a letter re a default, add it to your claim.

    I'd imagine the fee would be the same but not sure. Guess it really depends on circumstances. Basically, if you feel that their charges have contributed towards your default, you wouldn't have been in that position if you hadn't been charged. As a result, you wouldn't have had the fee. Make sense?

    Charges for sending letters out can be reclaimed, but regarding arrangement fees, these seem to be service charges so cannot be reclaimed.

    if you put it on anyway with your charges they will pay all up before they are in court anyway

    I wouldn't advise anyone to claim a charge that shouldn't be claimed has this could lead to complications further on in the claim, ie; the bank could make an application for further information and require you to explain what contractual term each charge is pursuant to. be very careful.
