    Default Parking Fine

    Hi,

    I have just received a pcnicon for going over the time on the meter. However, I was in a meeting with my solicitor couunting out £16k out for the deposit for my house I'm buying.

    Is there anyway that the Council should justify these charges before I pay - like the banks have to?

    Well I've just challenged a ticket that I got a few days ago that I think is invalid (see recent posting) as no two digit contravention code. I have also though requested a cancellation on compassionate grounds - 13 mins over time as counselling a bereaved person. Also mentioned that I'd actually paid 10p excess as the machine didn't give change which I don't understand at all - just an another way to screw yet more money from the motorist.

    So, might be worth try, anything's possible.

    They do justify the charge on the pcnicon - they state the code and the meaning. PCN's in our authority cannot be issued for 10 minutes after the expiry time of the ticket, which they consider plenty of time to return to the vehicle.
