Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have put my particulars of claim in 2 weeks ago and they needed to reply by 4th December, in actual fact they put in a defence claim on 5th. I have now had a letter off the Halifax offering me 99.9% of what I was asking and I am happy to settle at that, they have given me seven days. Is there a template to reply as I am scared of accepting there offer and then having problems getting the cheque as I know longer have an account at the Halifax.
Can anyone advise please.
don't forget at this stage you are also entitled to claim back your costs and interest, anything less is not a full settlement (or 99.9%) If you are happy with their offer, write back accepting it, excluding any conditions they may have imposed and add a paragraph saying you will withdraw the claim once the cheque has been received and cleared through your account. That way if you don't get it, you carry on with the claim.
