Default PCN - No contravention code. Illegal?

    Hi all I'm new,

I've received a pcnicon today and having scrutinised it I find there is no two digit contravention code. The NPAS website (know your PCN section) shows a ticket with this - mine should show '05' and it is missing. Is my ticket invalid because of this?

Exceeded pay and display by 13 minutes - I was in a church counselling a distressed bereaved client! I was parked right outside the door with a notice displayed indicating that it was a bereavementicon drop-in. I'd paid £2.40 for 2 hours of parking which is pretty extortionate anyway. I am so angry, these parking penalties are getting beyond the joke. This is the second time I've got a ticket while doing voluntary work too. All help appreciated. Thanks.

Appeal it and tell them it is invalid. then see what they say. you may need to take it to npas and ask for costs.

Thanks BC, have challenged it stating it's invalid because of missing contravention code - will post again when the verdict's in!

    Hi all

I know this was a long time ago, but could you let me know on what basis you state that No Contravention Code makes the ticket illegal (I have one, but would need back up e.g. example of successsful case).

    Was this particular challenge successful?

All help gratefully recieved (dealing with yet another non-bending council)

There is NO legal requirement to have a code on the pcnicon as long as the contravention is stated eg. parked on a bus stop.
