Hi everyone
i have bee reading through this and the mse websites for some time, plucking enough courage to start my claim.......... on the 22/11 I sent my £10 and template letter asking for a list of charges, they have cashed my cheque! I have also applied and been accepted ( I do have a poor credit rating ) for an Halifax cashcard account.
I hope i am doing everything right, it is rather daunting!!! And i am very nervous about the whole thing, but I am inspired by the threads I have been reading.
I would greatly appreciate any advise, or to be pointed in the right direction as what I should/need to be doing.
On a rough calculation the bank have taken £1200 this year so far....
Hi
Dont be nervous after all it is your money that they have got, and you deserve it back, I am in the same boat I am waiting for my statements, I sent off for them 20th Aug Just sent the reminder letter telling them there 40 days are up,
good luck
Mitch
How odd..................
on Tuesday I went overdrawn by £20.13, my husbands wages dont go in until Thursday, I was expecting a standard letter, and the £25 paid item charge to be taken from our account, making us go even further overdrawn, however they have not charged us...................
Is this down to me asking for my SARS? Or perhaps A & L are showing some goodwill this season.......... highly doubtful.
As anyone else come across this? They are usually very keen to apply charges, and on several occasions, i am sure they have fiddled with dd's and so's to ensure they can take charges before wages go in...
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
HI guys and welcome, I have just had a full refund of all my charges, including news ones so it would appear they are prepared to tow the line.
You will probably have to submit a court claim before they pay out but don't worry as they say they're going to defend then pay out a week or so later.
They have publically stated that they will close accounts but they have not yet closed mine, can't say I'm particularly worried if they do though.
well the 40 days are up, although I havent excluded any weekends or bank holidays, should I? Do I need to send them a reminder or wait a while longer? Thanks
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
hi all
i have recieved my statements this morning, and i have worked out the charges, £6006.50,(this does not include any intrerest charges yet) however I have been given over the six year period £355, back from A&L after complaining (bless em!), do I deduct this from the total, that would leave the charges at £5651.50, now i am confused because the total is over £5000, I am going to write to them (step 2) but do I need to write two seperate letters, or just go in for the full ammount, and split it into two for the MCOL stage?:?
Any help is appreciated Ta xx
hi
i have read through the site again, and had some advise from the mse forum, so I have deducted the refunded charges, and asked for the remainder to be refunded (less interest).
The letter is ready to be printed out, do I send to Bootle, or Narborough at this stage, seems to be some conflict over wheres best to address it too.
Please feel free to respond, I do like a good natter.....
hi
would someone please answer me this question.
I have today recieved the standard bog off letter, saying charges are fair etc, I only posted my letter to them on Monday 8th january, can i go to lba, or do I need to wait the full 14 days?
hi guys
I recieved my next bog off letter following my lba, so off to MCOL we go.
Bit confused as my claim is over £5000 without the 8% interest, is the best course of action to split it in two, and if so do i file them at the same time or wait until one has been settled, or do i go for the full ammount on a fast track?
Please reply,i need advise from you, due to file MCOL on Saturday
No answer but I'm in the same boat, post a query and no reply!! So I thought I'd wish you the best of luck and if you want to watch my problems unwind to a happy ending I'll be updating the Wibble vs A&L thread regularly.
hey there!, as far as i know by reading around the site most peeps have split their claims when its over £5k, you can go for the whole amount however i think this goes to fastrak court and the charge is £250 for the papers to be served etc, you can claim that back too tho, i currently have a claim for £3500 with A&L issued my MCOL 18 jan, there is no need to worry if you do split ya claim you will prob still get all your money it might just take a little longer, have a look at Ockers v A&L his claim is over 5000 and he talks a bit more about the extra charge. or ring your local county court for their advice as they can be very helpful too
I am thinking of splitting my claim in two, has it seems to be the tried and tested way for claims over £5K, now do i submit tham together or file the other once one has been settled???
A&L sent me a statement, another £50 going out on the 27th Jan, so will be adding that on too, have these people no shame?
OK, i am ready to file my MCOL, i am going to split it, i think this is a wise decision, do i file them both together, or wait until one is settled before claiming the rest? Or do i start from scratch with the letters again for the remainder?
Please help me out guys
thanks, i am ok with the particulars of the claim, have copied off the template, however on the first screen of the MCOL, it ask for claim description, it is limited to about 30 character, just wondering what everyone else has put.
