Default Halifax - To accept or Not to accept the offer?!

    Hi all
Would really like to hear what you guys think of my offer from Halifaxicon...

I claimed for 2 current accounts with them.
    1st current account = £208 in charges (offered £228)
    2nd current account = £200 in charges (offered £90)

After writing to them on 17 November, I had an overall offer of £318 (78% of total claim) out of the £408 which I claimed.

Would you all say this was reasonable?

    Thanks....

Its simple reasonable is them giving you all your money all they are trying to do is fob you off. Its a standard trick, stick to your guns and claim all your money.

Quite agree. It's your money, why should they keep any of it?
I'm still high as a kite with my result yesterday. They did shaft me for 54p and I am SERIOUSLY thinking about pursuing it. Sounds daft but it's mine not theirs!
    Will they ever learn?

    Hi,

I will advise you write them and say that you will take the money as a partial payment but still go ahead claim the full payment. Use the template below.

I received an offer from Halifaxicon last Wednesday 29 November (within my 14 day preliminary request that was sent on 17 November).

To be really honest, I was swaying towards accepting it, but after a few days I've now decided to go for the full whack that they owe me, after all its my money....

My 14 day deadline was up on 4 December.

Is it dire that I am accepting their offer as partial payment in a letter dated 6 December?

    17 November - Prelimanary letter
25 November - Confirmation of receipt from Halifax
29 November - letter from Halifax Goodwill gesture £318 out of £408 (original claim).

18 December Halifax letter offering £408
18 December - MCOL completed - claiming interest and costs £523
28 December - Won! Money in account!
