Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am sending off my initial letter for details of all charges today. Wish me luck. My charges are snowballing and I can't cope.
I've opened a parachute account and am moving all direct debits over. This all stems from last december when they charged me nearly £1000!!! in charges and I think I was only over by around £50 initially.
I am also obtaining details of charges from two closed accounts - the Co-Operative Bank & Citi Credit Card. Not sure if its a good idea to start so many claims at once but I need to sort the Barclays Bank charges out asap (the others can wait for a while - then need to start on store cards!!! - I am on a mission) as they are snowballing so fast they will probably go over £5,000. I've been reading this site for a while and will need all your support in the coming months. I will keep you all updated. Any words of advice etc would really help.
If I get my money back it would really help to set me straight and hopefully keep me on the financial straight & narrow)
From past experiences with Barclays, does anyone know how long (roughly) the whole process will take.
Apologies if I have inserted this thread in the wrong place etc.
The only advice I can give you is to take the time waiting for the appearance of the statements to re-read the FAQ's and the step-by-step instructions. Your template letters are here and your spreadsheet can be found here .
Also, by reading the longer threads you will see what to expect at various stages along your quest to re-claim your charges. I started my claim against Barclays 5 months ago and I expect a conclusion in around 2 months but other banks tend to repay sooner than that. If Barclays wish to settle earlier than my estimated 2 months then that would be welcome but I'm prepared to sit in Court with them if they ever want to take it that far.
At least you have your parachute accounts up and running.
Any problems, just post here in this thread and we'll help you out.
Good Luck
