A little advice needed. I have used all of the useful bits of information off this forum to attemp to get back my fees of £900.00 back off Barclays. After my second letter I recieved an offer for £400.00. They asked me to sign and return a form fully excepting the £400.00 as closure of my complaint.
If I send them a Rejection of settlement offer, will I risk loosing the £400? is it worth risking for the remaining £500? Should I expect to pay something towards my 30 bank fees I recieved?

Hi Paul and Welcome!
This decision is completely up to you. I would suggest reading a few of these posts and it they will help you draw your own conclusions. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...barclays-bank/
All I can offer is, if you've paid it to them, why shouldnt you claim it all back?!
After all, its your money you're turning down!
But ultimately the decision is yours alone.
It is up to you but it is ALL your money so why not have it ALL back? I don't know who your bank operates some pay out and you persue the rest some drop the offer and you persue the full.
You shouldn't pay any proportion unless the bank is prepared to explain what proportion you should pay and if they do this then they will have to disclose their costs and no bank is ever going to do this it seems.
My advice send the rejection letter, start your own thread on your banks forum and keep us updated. Its your choice though.
I recieved a letter for £400, original fines were for 905. Deadline from second letter was 4 days remaining.
So I called the lady on the letter and asked her two direct questions.
1, An explaination to where the figure £400 came from.
2, were they prepared to offer me anymore over the phone, or were they prepared to go the full way for the sake of £505.
After being on hold for 5 minutes..... and this is the interesting bit. I was told that Barclays used the value of £12.00 as a cost associated with a fine, and not £30. Therefore they would offer me £905 minus 30 charges at £12. Came out to approx £350, so a refund of £550 .
For the sake of £350 and the hassle and risk of not getting it all back. I accepted thier offer.
I am not sure if I was just fobbed off with the £12 figure, but was interesting to see how they were working it out their end.
Maybe this information will help others......
Good luck all, and many thanks for the information.
