vodafoneicon have admitted that they have been incorectly charging Pre-Pay customers for sending short-code texts. It is estimated the network has gained in excess of £360,000 per week on the error - and it is not disclosed whether they plan to go through their billing records and to credit customers incorrectly charged.

What happened is this - when requesting a premium SMS, the user sends a text that costs 12p, the text aggregator then returs the text that costs £1.50. vodafoneicon's error is that they subsequently charged an ADDITIONAL 12p for delivering the text from the aggregator - meaning the proper cost of £1.62 (original message + fee) is actually charged as £1.74.

One to watch!
