Apparently Falcon Management Services Ltd have had their membership of the Credit Services Association terminated.

When consultant Anna Whitehouse was first listed as a creditor owed £8,000 by a failed catering firm, she didn’t realise what a tasty prospect she had become for firms keen to recover her money, and get a cut for themselves.

But she quickly found out as she was bombarded by calls. “It was relentless,” she told Crusader. “They wanted at least £1,000 up front plus a 25 per cent share or more of returned funds.

“I’d never had a client not pay before so this was all new to me. I was shaken up by the loss of £8,000 and then the business that had collapsed opened up again, pretty much the same but as a new company. It just seemed so unfair that it could wriggle out of its liabilities like that.”

Amid all the upset and pressure she gave more of a hearing last November to a new deal suggested by Falcon Management Services Ltd, a firm based in North Shields, Tyne and Wear.

They stopped answering my calls and became aggressive when I asked for proof work was being done or my money back

“I was called by someone calling himself Mike who said if I paid a £750 deposit, I would get it back after 100 days if they were unsuccessful at recovering the money,” recalls Anna.

“This persuaded me more than their other claims of having inside knowledge about my ex-client, so I signed a form with the basic details. They said it was for ‘admin’ – so not a contract - and there were no terms and conditions attached on the email chain.”

But the monthly update Anna says she had been promised did not come through promptly. “And when it did there was not much, not enough to justify £750,”she says.

Agencies usually operate on a no-win no-fee basis, assuming no legal action is required

“They stopped answering my calls and became aggressive when I asked for proof work was being done or my money back.”

A legal expert Crusader asked to look at Falcon’s proposed recovery schedule, with references to a “statutory demand for bankruptcy”, dismissed it as “not making sense”.
