Hi

I am posting to a friend

she has had a contract with this local goverment for 22.5 years and all has been fine until recently the hr manager has changed her hours time as she has a 2 year old she cant fit thenm in as the child minder does not work after 6 so now they are asking for her to give up her old contract any help appreciated

why do they need her hours changed? are there no other childminders? (Has she tried?) has she put in a formal flexible working request, in writing? is she a member of a union?

Never assume anyone on the internet is who they say they are. Only rely on advice from insured professionals you have paid for!

Agreed - there needs to be a lot more information here. Why are they asking, what is the context, and why would she be needed after 6? Enforcing contractual changes in a local authority are rare enough, but doing so without a very good reason is exceptionally rare.
