Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I opened an account with barclaycard.
the account was then closed when
I went over the £700 credit limit.
over the years the balance has crept
up to nearly £3000.
they sent letters for a while detailing
the charges but then stopped.
this was about 1997.
Then about 2004 I started receiving
letters from a debt collecting agency
who were demanding payment of the
balance in full
what do I do ?
any help greatly appreciated
As I understand it, if they have stopped chasing you, after 6 years the debt becomes unenforceable. The best thing would be to post in 'Debts & BBailiffs' forum were there are much more know2ledgable people.
