    Default Costs of court action

    SARicon sent to RBofS last week awaiting statements.

    BTW - What are the general charges to be met if the claim goes that far.
    I'm on an IVA so cash is short - don't want to get to the edge & find out I can't afford the last step.

    Starting court action in the UK

    court fees. You have to pay a fee when starting your claim (the amount will depend on how much you are claiming), and further fees if the trader (the defendant) defends the case. If you win, these fees will be added to the amount the defendant has to pay. If you are in receipt of some benefits, you will be exempt from payment of the fee. If you are on a low income you can ask the court to consider whether the fees can be waived;

    I have heard that for people getting Working Family Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits the court fee is waived completely.

    Hope this helps.
