Hi all.

I recently asked my doctor to be referred to a specialist who deals specifically in concussions (I have experienced my second concussion in 6 months) and he kindly filled out something called an IPFR, which I had to Google to find out means Individual Patient Funding Request.

I am not sure how many of these are turned down but I would like a little advice on how to appeal, and what information to include, should this request be turned down?

Thank you all in advance.

B

I agree with HB, I've seen a few IPFR's and whenever they have been declined it's been on the basis of an equivalent service being available through the normal channels. I'd imagine that if your GP was concerned he could refer you through the normal channel to a neurologist anyway.

Sorry guys (and girls?), for some reason I haven't had any notifications of your posts.

Thank you, i will wait and let you know when I have my decision.

Regarding whether the GP was concerned, according to the Professor, 'There is a general recommendation in sports at present to see an expert after two concussions'. I don't think the GP was aware of this, you see.
