Just received exactly the same pack of letters, mine being for £***.**. I've never even been in the position of having to even consider a payday loan!! And I've definitely never dealt with The Money Shop in any way, shape or form!! Unfortunately it's Saturday after 1pm now so I can't even call them to get some answers.

Any advice on this greatly appreciated!!

I received the pack of letters from BW Legal today containing:

- a letter from 'The Money Shop' telling me that an account evidently in my name with a due balance of £***.** has been sold to PRAC Financial Limited on the 9th Dec 2016. (this is obviously the first I've heard!)

- a letter from PRAC Financial informing me that they have "acquired the debt from Instant Cash Loans Ltd T/A The Money Shop".

- and finally BW Legal's own letter informing me that they are representing PRAC, and presenting me with payment options.

As I've said above, I have, thankfully, never got anywhere near so desperate as to even consider a payday loan and have never had any dealings with The Money Shop!

I've just searched my credit reports and BW Legal searched on the 30th Dec 2016 - I assume how they got my address?

There's really no other details I can give you as this was totally out of the blue and I have no knowledge of the account!

Urm -Interesting... Well If been dealing with all 3 companies recently and dealing with Instant Cash Loans Ltd over the last few years.

It appears im am not the only one who they lent to fraudulently.

Its your choice. You can ignore. But you will have a default i would imagine and if its fraudulent then it might be time to consider the sourcing information.

Could i make a suggestion that you look into our library and prepare a £10 Postal Order for a SAR Request.

I think its time to investigate.

Where are you looking?

I would suggest checking both Noddle and Clearscore.

I can also see that Andyorch has posted. I would suggest adhering to his advice to protect your identity.

Good One DisC,,,

Well switched on. Its up to you how you want to play this but the DSAR goes to TMS.

Get the info and then its up to you... At least if they do pull any funny business you have everything you need to derail them :)

Update:

Just received a letter from BW Legal explaining that "Unfortunately we believe your details may have been provided to us incorrectly and are subject to a 'mis-trace'." Someone with my exact name and d.o.b being chased! Funny because someone with my exact name and d.o.b flagged up on our solicitors' bankruptcy checks when we bought our house this time last year! Same person?! Hmm....

Anyway, thanks for advice guys, but thankfully not needed this time!
