Just had an email from Ebico to advise that from 15th March 2017, they are switching customers from SSE to Robinhood Energy, with a 4.5% reduction in price of the existing tariff. Ebico are a not for profit company, who have always specialised in offering low energy users a better deal, by not applying a standing charge and having a competitive tariff.

Robinhood Energy are also a not for profit supplier and are owned by Nottingham City Council.

If you are an Ebico customer keep an eye out for the email and a letter coming in the post shortly. The switch will happen automatically, but customers receiving warm home discount are advised to opt out of this switch and stay with SSE.

We could do with some help from you.

Got the same letter, but it didn't say anything about reduction of price.

I keep my eyes peeled for further communication from ebico.

Thanks

Customers are on different rates, depending on when they signed up to Ebico and where they live etc. Perhaps for your supply, Robinhood can't reduce the price.

It looks very much as the switch is not happening automatically. So if you want to avoid the price hike being imposed by SSE, anyone wanting to move to Robinhood (Ebico Zero) needs to action the switch ASAP.

Thanks for that. Yes it does appear that SSE refused to allow EBICO to automatically transfer customers to Robinhood. Ebico have then not advised customers by letter or email. It was only after reading your post that i went to the Ebico website and if you want to Switch you have to instruct Ebico of your wishes. You can do this online using the unique code contained in their letter back in February.

Just received the letter from SSE saying eBico cannot automatically move THEIR customers to a new BACKEND sub-contractor.

However, I think my contract of supply is with eBico NOT directly with SSE who are a sub-contractor to eBico.

So basically it appears the whole "we do not want to do this any more" statement from SSE is a scheme to grab eBico's customers?

Agree.

SSE and Ebico had a major disagreement, so SSE try to hold onto Ebico customers. According to Ebico website, high call volumes are being received ! I just went online to Ebico, logged in using their code number to register staying with Ebico.

I have only just had the letter dated 16th March. Had they sorted it out earlier, i could have enjoyed Robin Hoods cheaper rates from an earlier date.

Seems like a game being played between Ebico and SSE.

Ebico said they were moving their customers away from SSE, as SSE wanted to change the current scheme.

SSE have sent a letter received today, saying that Ebico have given wrong information. That SSE are keeping the current scheme started with Ebico and no mention of any increases in pricing. They also claim that i was a customer of SSE and not Ebico. I signed my contract with Ebico and not SSE. SSE just supplied the energy scheme for Ebico.

I can see this going to regulators, as there seems to be a dispute about who has the customer contracts. Also there has been so much misinformation. According to Ebico, SSE are increasing their prices. But according to the letter from SSE today, there is no mention of any increase in prices.

Perhaps SSE have just realised that they don't want to lose the tens of thousands of customers brought to them by Ebico.

I had a letter from SSE (with Ebico branding) informing me that the electricity rate was rising quite substantially. Logged on to the Ebico website and actioned the switch to Robinhood last week and had a letter back asking for meter readings. The switch has been processed very quickly, and within days, I'm now on the (slightly) cheaper RHE tariffs.

You may need to register at https://account.ebico.org.uk/register to do the switch online and/or enter meter readings.

Yes i have now registered switch to Robinhood.

I never had any letter from SSE with Ebico branding saying there was a price increase. The last letter from SSE advises of no change to tariff. This might be because my tariff had already been guaranteed until November 2017 i think. It might depend on when you originally joined Ebico and other factors.

Very badly managed process by Ebico and SSE, with much misinformation.

First Ebico think they can switch all customers automatically.

Then Ebico realise a month later they can't switch customers, because SSE are the energy supplier using the Ebico brand to supply services.

SSE then try to keep these Ebico customers with a letter basically complaining about Ebico

Ebico do eventually write to confirm that customers have to opt to their new supplier Robinhood

SSE only a few weeks later confirm that they will increase prices from April, when Ebico has no price increase guarantee until November 2017.

Ebico then confirm that they have registered the switch.

Ebico 3 weeks later ask for meter readings and a week after that they confirm me as new customer.

SSE have not bothered to make contact again, with only an esimated usage bill showing online. No attempt to ask for meter readings as at date of switch.

We could do with some help from you.

cant you login to your sse account and enter your readings

Yes, i will try that. But the switch date assumes an estimated amount and i am a week later after switch date in giving exact meter readings. Ebico when sending letters seem to take a week before posting, so the letters received are dated over a week old by the time received and the letter asks for readings within 5 days. Of course not possible as letter received late.

I presume based in exact readings they will work out daily usage up to switch date and recalculate, so each provider receives roughly what is due.

And also SSE have only currently closed electric, when i switched both to Robinhood. Either admin error or they will get around to closing gas as well.

We could do with some help from you.

ive not switched yet as i was waiting for the warm home payment.I will check the comparison sites and see if theres any better deals. The price difference that i was given when ebico contacted me if switching to robin hood was only a couple of £ as im a low user so at the time decided to leave it.Ebico also advised waiting until received the warm home discount. That came through about 4 weeks ago. I also dont want to have to shop around again in november when robinhood price may go up. I would sooner get a 12 month fix.I also have phone and bb with sse i have to say the basic bb for me from sse has been far better and more stable than i ever got from virgin and talktalk. il have to check when that deal finishes. Make a note of your readings now and see how it pans out when you get your final bills.
