Nothing new here. Rather than raise prices, manufacturers reduce the size. Toblerone anyone?

It is sneaky and underhand but they can get away with it. What we have to remember is that these companies work for the shareholders, not the consumer so profit is king.

Mars has been doing this for ages. Buy a multipack of Mars bars and see how many bites you get out of each bar compared to buying a single bar (dependant on the size of your mouth)

I believe the manufacturers/supermarkets have run studies which showed that consumers were more accepting of size/portion reductions than they were of price increases, so that's the approach they went with.

Top London restaurants have being doing this for years. Can you imagine GRs restaurant running an all you can eat buffet? Now that would be a bargain...

the mars bar used to be an indicator of inflation as its size and price have varied over the decades to match inflation almost exactly.

I once went ot one of these posh restaurants where it was all you can eat for free but bloody hell their waiters are quite fit. We lost them after 3 blocks but had to go back the next day to pick up a moped left outside by one of the party and the chase started again..

my gob must be getting bigger then 2 bite and a mars bar is gone
