Coronor said accidental death.

Cps said no charges to be brought against security guard.

Quite correct in my opinion.

Can you think of a case where the CPS would bring charges?

Go to a Magistrates Court or a Crown Court in England / Wales.

It won't be long before you find a case where the CPS have bought charges..... or did you mean manslaughter or murder charges?

Make it the Crown Court, and likely a longer wait, but there will still be such cases.

Here is a recent example

In any case, I am sure that the security guard is just trying to recover stolen stock.

I was curious as to how the CPS would take the decision to bring charges.

Thanks for the response though!

What you originally posted was:

and my reply was to demonstrate how to find cases where the CPS brings charges (in general, and for manslaughter .....)

If now you are making it more clear that your question was actually "how does the CPS decide if to bring manslaughter charges" ; they apply both the 2-fold test applicable to all charges (likelihood success and 'public interest), as well as the specific guidelines for that offence (so for gross negligence manslaughter) :

As an aside, the security guard who tackled him was from Sainsbury's, the alleged theft of the bottles causing injury having been from Asda.
