Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have taken the plunge and have started the process of getting MY money back from the Woolwich. I sent the Data Protection Act letter on Friday aftrenoon with £10 enclosed, I have just received a letter from Barclays saying that they don`t hold manual intervention records and will send me the requested data in due course.
Thats always a bonus, just waiting for the Breakdown of the money they have taken and then its busy doing the big claim back..I have opened a parachute account just to be on the safe side with smile, you never know
I am a bit confused on which speadsheet to use, is it the one with compounded interest and what do I claim back, is it charges without interest? or including interest. If you use compounded at what % do I set interest?
Do I include a printout of the speadsheet in the communications with the bank.
This is the first letter to the bank after receiving the statements.
In my initial letter requesting my statements it was stated that "if I discover that you have levied disproportionate penalties against me, then I shall be reclaiming them"

Re: Me against the Woolwich
Hello and Welcome
Well done for posting in the right forum, hopefully now any question you have will be answered by other people claiming against the same bank as you who have extra knowledge!
I’m claiming against this bank as well - I'm a bit further down the line than you so don’t worry about thing for now!
First of all don’t panic - you will soon have your money back in your hands where it belongs!!
Yes…you can claim back your charges, even if you were late paying, even if you went over your limit and even if your DD Bounced!!!
Remember the banks have acted unlawful you haven’t!!!
Before you start anything make sure you read the FAQs and as many threads as possible as there is a wealth of information on here!!
Remember its important to open a parachute account, especially if the charges are spiralling out of control and you have little or no money left, at the end of each month.
If you get stuck have a look (by searching) to see if your question has already been asked by reading other people threads, if you are still not sure either post your question in your own thread or PM me and I will be happy to help you.
Also look for another newbie claiming against the same bank as you, that way you can do your claim together and support each other as the post drops through the door!!
Sometimes the banks act awfully and you can get very stressed out by it all. But stick to your guns - you are in the right - they are not. Don’t let them put you off, that’s what they want to do!
Hope this helps
Good Luck

Getting there - well at least I have had an offer from Barclays albeit £1000 for a claim of £5500. I'll just grab it and run huh!!!! Seriously, some people say take the offer (but not in Full and final settlement) and then start court proceedings for the rest and some people say reject the offer completely. Which is the best way to go please?
Fired up!
Bunglebin
Basically you should accept the offer, with the proviso that you retain the right to claim for the balance.
They will reject this proposal and probably withdraw their offer, so you end up claiming for the full amount
Preliminary Letter sent to Woolwich 05/06
LBA sent 19/06
Court claim filed 04/07 : Total £824.75
Acknowledgement of Service 27/07
Defence received 08/08
AQ filed 11/08
Barclays AQ filed 05/09
Hearing date 20/12 SETTLED IN FULL £840.49: 14/12/06
They will reject this proposal and probably withdraw their offer, so you end up claiming for the full amount
Then we get to the good letter from Barclays................. ................
Dear Mr Bunglebin
Your letter has been ESCALATED to blah, blah, blah.
See, you'll be well impressed with Barclays once you find out you've been escalated wont you Oh, Oh im on Level 29..........
