Ok first off i know this is a sc@m

unfortunatly a old family friend got done for £300

he has phoned the bank but they are dragging their feet on refunding the money since it was a authorised transaction .

However i feel they are trying to get him to go away

am i right i believe he should be given it straight back since its a well known [problem] in it circles ,

im going down to him to go through his computer to see what they have done to it

so would like some info as to how to proceed with the bank its barclays if that helps

Hi PNM,

We need more info.

1. Was this paid by credit or debit card.

2. What was the service offered, that was paid for.

3. Is the PC, laptop, tablet, etc working or compromised after this.

This sounds like the classic, "We're from Microsoft and have a report that your machine is running slowly due to techy probs." type fraud. Is this the case, or not - please confirm.

:-)

We could do with some help from you

needs to URGENTLY phone any other bank or Building Society or Credit Card company he has and TELL THEM what has happens.

if he has used that PC with any other places that hold his money

or has paid for things online

then typically they also grab a complete copy of browsing and history

that way they find out other pers details

then they raid any account they can work out details for.
