I took a secured loan out in 2006 for £5,000 secured on my home I believe,

in 2008 I lost my job and could no longer pay,

I had them knocking my door and I was giving them cash I didn't really have,

eventually I stopped paying as I could no longer afford it.

I found out in 2010 I had PPI and this was never activated despite me losing my job,

(I have never tried to reclaim the PPI) and them being aware of this.

I am now looking to sell my house and have heard nothing from Welcome since 2012.

Will I still have to pay this amount on sale?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hello welcome to CAG.

If you have been paying for PPI and you've not reclaimed it, then IMO I would definitely be hitting them with a reclaim, along with all of their charges too!

Have you checked your credit file? See what's on there?

If you haven't got all of the paperwork you need to go about reclaiming and findong what charges they levied on your account, then send them a SAR (£10) and in forty days you'll have the info needed.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

Thank you for your reply.

I never bothered with the PPI as I never heard from them and didn't want them harassing me,

its only now I've come to move that I've actually remembered I still have it (I assume) in place.

So are you saying that they are NOT actively chasing you for this?

If so, then IMO, as well as checking your credit file, I'd let sleeping dogs lie.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
