Question RBOS Switch Card Misuse charges

    Hello All,

This is my first post !

Basically what has happened is that I have had £70 worth of bank charges to my current account because I paid for two items on my Switch Card when I was over my overdrafticon limit. The items I paid for were £2.75p and £10.05 at a tesco store on the same day. Can someone tell my why my card transaction went through without declining my card. Yet I was over my overdraft limit.
    Is this allowed ??

    Thanks

    Gary.

It will be to do with timing of credits/debits, etc. and debits which may have been authorised to come out but have not actually come out, but come out soon after you have made the "misuse" purchases!

or, more likely a charges tactic from the bank!

What happens when you make a Switch transaction is "The funds are allocated for 24-48 hours" these are friozen/reserved on your account. The company should take the funds in this time. Some won't. If the company decides to wait 5 days to take them, the money is available in your account for a short while (this is where you have used your card and got a misuse fee because the company has then decided to take your money!).

    Natwesticon do it too!

In one word... No. but they do...

Total up your charges for the last 6 yearsicon,if you have more... and get the prelimenary letter sent to them asking for a refund.
