Hi, sorry but new here and fed up because A&L have just charged me £50 for being 98 pence over my overdraft. I'm going to send off a S.A.R - (Subject access request) but i'm unsure where to send it. Do i send it to the address in Bootle, or the Carlton park, Leicester address? I didn't realise just how unfair these charges are, in the 5-10 years i've been with them, i must have paid thousands of pounds in returned dd's and other charges.

Have a good read of the FAQ's and A&L threads while you're waiting for your statements, you will need to open a parachute account as they will eventually close your account so be prepared for it!
i've been fed up with them for a while and have my wages paid into my wifes account. I only use A&L to pay my direct debits so its no great loss if they do close my account. I also have our joint account but do you reccomend i open up a new personal account? If so, should i open it now, or wait til they close mine?
Up to you, or you could change your wife's current account to a joint one...

I would get a new account ready, especially if you use it for direct debits so you have time to get them transferred elsewhere. As has been said, keep reading the FAQ's etc, and the A&L successes forum will give you a taste of what to expect.
.
A&L pay without a fight, but just make you do a court claim before paying to make sure you are serious, but then they will pay up.
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
Should you be offered help that requires payment please report it to site team.

Hi all! Well my bank statements finally came through yesterday. Just gone through them all, listed the charges on a schedule, and they have taken £2232.50 off me in the last 6 years!! Can anyone tell me what the maximum amount is i can claim before i incurr A&L's court costs if i lose? The money will really come in handy since we had our new arrival on christmas day! (although first day back at work tomorrow )
Thanks for that
Sent the Prelim letter today along with the schedule of charges, so i should get a reply before the end of the month :-| . Can anybody post up a link for an interest calculator (in case they dont pay)? Or do i just stick 8% on top of the total claim if it goes to court? Thanks for all your help
Thanks for that Michael
Got a fairly standard looking letter from them today stating that they feel the charges they raised were fair and reasonable, and so decline to refund my charges. Shall i wait for the 14 day deadline, or just send them the lba now?
hi
i had my reply from A&L after the first letter was sent quite quick to, i just sent the lba straight off, but I am waiting until the times up on that before going to court
Oops! Silly me, I didn't change the date at the top of the spreadsheet, and also put the wrong date on the last charge (Jan '06 instead of Jan '07) Anyways, sorted now and the lba should arrive on A&L's doorstep on Monday.
If it goes to court (which it probably will!), would i be able to claim back the S.A.R - (Subject access request) fee as well as my administration costs? I must have spent around 5 hours going through everything, typing, etc. (5 hrs @ £10.00 ph = £50, + 3xRec. del. @£1.00 = £3.00, + SAR fee @ £10.00 =Total of £63.00)
LOL! Trying to be too cheeky
I'm just trying to register my MCOL claim in readyness for their "sod off" reply, but it doesn't like the Bootle postcode. Would it be ok to just put the Carlton Park address in (i've been corresponding with the Bootle address up until now)? Any help would be much appreciated.
Okay then, submitted my claim online tonight (fingers are well and truly crossed), but one small question, do i have to send a new schedule of charges showing the up to date interest to the bank?
