    Default Me v A&L

Hi, sorry but new here and fed up because A&L have just charged me £50 for being 98 pence over my overdrafticon. I'm going to send off a S.A.R - (Subject access requesticon) but i'm unsure where to send it. Do i send it to the address in Bootle, or the Carlton park, Leicester address? I didn't realise just how unfair these charges are, in the 5-10 years i've been with them, i must have paid thousands of pounds in returned dd's and other charges.

Use the Bootle address for the S.A.R.

Have a good read of the FAQ's and A&L threads while you're waiting for your statements, you will need to open a parachute accounticon as they will eventually close your account so be prepared for it!

Personally, I'll be glad to see the back of them!

    Good luck!

i've been fed up with them for a while and have my wages paid into my wifes account. I only use A&L to pay my direct debits so its no great loss if they do close my account. I also have our joint account but do you reccomend i open up a new personal account? If so, should i open it now, or wait til they close mine?

I would get a new account ready, especially if you use it for direct debits so you have time to get them transferred elsewhere. As has been said, keep reading the FAQ's etc, and the A&L successes forum will give you a taste of what to expect.
    .
A&L pay without a fight, but just make you do a court claim before paying to make sure you are serious, but then they will pay up.

Can anybody post up a link for an interesticon calculator (in case they dont pay)? Or do i just stick 8% on top of the total claim if it goes to court? Thanks for all your help

    Use the Simple S/S here:

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...eadsheets.html
    and guide here:
    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...html#post50088

Overwrite the existing examples type of charge, amount and date.

The days since and 8% will be calculated automatically

Save it (for use later at court), then delete/hide the last 2 columns (8% bits) and print out as your schedule of charges.

    Thanks for that Michael
Got a fairly standard looking letter from them today stating that they feel the charges they raised were fair and reasonable, and so decline to refund my charges. Shall i wait for the 14 day deadline, or just send them the lbaicon now?

Anybody know why the calculated interesticon is more on my most recent charge? Surely it'd be lower?? Also, why the brackets?

Oops! Silly me, I didn't change the date at the top of the spreadsheet, and also put the wrong date on the last charge (Jan '06 instead of Jan '07) Anyways, sorted now and the lbaicon should arrive on A&L's doorstep on Monday.
If it goes to court (which it probably will!), would i be able to claim back the S.A.R - (Subject access requesticon) fee as well as my administration costs? I must have spent around 5 hours going through everything, typing, etc. (5 hrs @ £10.00 ph = £50, + 3xRec. del. @£1.00 = £3.00, + SARicon fee @ £10.00 =Total of £63.00)

    SARicon fee - yes.
adminicon costs - no, unless you actually get to court where they could be awarded at the discretion of the judge.

LOL! Trying to be too cheeky
I'm just trying to register my MCOL claim in readyness for their "sod off" reply, but it doesn't like the Bootle postcode. Would it be ok to just put the Carlton Park address in (i've been corresponding with the Bootle address up until now)? Any help would be much appreciated.

Okay then, submitted my claim online tonight (fingers are well and truly crossed), but one small question, do i have to send a new schedule of charges showing the up to date interesticon to the bank?
