Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Since starting my claims (I have 8 running so far) a few days ago I thought of a very useful idea.
Buy some really cheap notebooks (I got mine from Tesco 38p each) one for each case.
Write everything down in them.
That way if you are getting lots of letters/calls you can log it down in each separate book and not get too confused as to what stage you are at with each claim.
Seems simple enough but thought it might help some of the new members.
Also I have set reminders in my mobile for when i need to contact/action things on certain dates!

Aaahhh...Turbonote...so yesterday's fashion. For Firefox users there is a portable version that fits on a USB stick. Now I have my browser, my notes, my addresses, calendar tea, coffee and sugar with me wherever I go, on whatever machine I care to use...
Sorry. Turbonote is very good. (reminderfox is better!)

Now now!
Pen and paper is my option-say if you cant get on your computer?
PMSL!
The stick works on anyone's computer...that is why it is so good...but pen and paper are always a good option, and I am not knocking them. After all, look how efficient the banks are with computers...

On my PC, I have filed all my 'paperwork' into the relevant folders, so all my Barclays claims are together, Prelim letter, lba letter, spreadsheet and case notes, same for cap one and Monument. I do also have a notebook which I keep by the PC for all sorts of financial stuff.
Also, pinned next to the phone on an A4 sheet of paper is all the relevant claim info, e.g. which bank and amount claiming for, what they are and the dates from and to. Dates each stage needs to be implemented, when the banks need to respond by and a paragraph of what to say if a bank should telephone offering a goodwill gesture. I have also got a few other bits on it, mainly for OH's sake as two of the claims are his. Its quite good as at the bottom is a bit of a mantra...
"DO NOT enter into a debate with the caller. DO NOT agree to discontinue your claim if only offered a partial refund.
ASK FOR ALL CORRESPONDENCE IN WRITING INCLUDING ANY GOODWILL GESTURES OR FULL REFUNDS.
IF OFFERED A FULL REFUND, DO NOT AGREE THAT THE CHARGES LEVIED ARE LAWFUL. THEY ARE NOT AND THEY KNOW THIS.
THESE CHARGES ARE PUNITIVE AND ARE THEREFORE NOT A FAIR REPRESENTATION OF THE COSTS INVOLVED IN RETURNING ITEMS UNPAID OR LATE PAYMENTS TO YOUR ACCOUNT."
A bit sad I know, but it helps to know that there is something there right in front of OH if any of the swines ring for him.
You are so brilliant (I know...I'm far too modest to say so myself...!) - this is just perfick!! Cheers!!
Go on - just for you. A calendar/adding machine thingy - for all that interest that needs calculating, all those deadlines that you need to work out a countdown for...

I am working on a 40 day DPA reminder on the main site - you put in the date you sent the letter, it allows 4 days for delivery (as per the CPRs) and then emails you a couple of days before it's up.
If anyone knows of any way I can send SMS for free, then I'll make it send a text to your phone too.

I'm not sure you can get free webtexts in that format. However, many email accounts can be set up to text when triggered by certain emails - I believe Yahoo can do that...

I use Rainlendar, a totally free handy small calender program, you can write in your reminders in the events section, and it pops up in the middle of your screen, when the time comes so you cannot miss it! it also has a to do list, and a couple of other plug-ins for outlook, though I am not sure what that does as I do not use outlook
