Hi everyone. I am a newbie to CAG. So I need to read through everything first before I know where to post, but in the meantime, can someone tell me if 1st Stop is a legitimate Loan Company?

Hi, mine is a very long story,

I need to read up all about CAG so I know where I need to post (the short version - promise LOL)

but in the meantime I desperately need a loan, and have bad credit, and 1st stop has just provisionally approved a 5K loan.

I have no option but to take it and just hoping they are ok (foolish I know regarding any financial in stitution - but I am out of options)

I have moved you to the correct place. Do NOT take out a £5000 loan with these people.

Tell us what problems you have and why you need the money, we may be able to help before you get yourself into deep problems.

They are not a lender, they are a credit broker so you can guarantee that any quote they give you will be false and the actual loan, if you get one, will be way way higher.

Brokers are rip-off companies preying on the vulnerable, please do as havinastell asks and tell up the urgency and problem before you take up this offer of a loan which may not

even materialise but could cost you money anyway.

Is it 1st Stop Group in Blackpool ? - they are lenders. I know they definitely do their own finance on vehicles - I had to confirm employment details to them for one of our employees and he showed me the credit agreement - 1st Stop was the provider of the finance

Seems good advice, just wondering what you need the money for.Is it a Guarantor Loan, just wondering

I have just had a quick look around.I will look harder if needed.

As Ell-enn says re car finance.

1st Stop Car Finance, one of the Group’s subsidiaries, will introduce and pre-underwrite hire purchase loans on behalf of Conister Bank, including online applications for vehicle finance via its consumer website

1st Stop was originally set up to provide loans for council tenants to buy homes under the Right to Buy scheme. It then diversified offering a variety of products.

This year it launched its Guarantor Loans. a right pain for many these kind of loans.

As can be seen in the Payday Loan Forums.

Just took a quick look at a 5,000 pound loan with them.

Loan Amount: £5000

Monthly Repayment: £189.38

Term of Loan (months): 48

Total Interest Repayable: £3715.24

Total Amount Repayable: £9090.24

Plus 375 arrangement fee.

Our rates of interest vary from 19.9% per annum to 65% per annum. These will vary based on your application and credit score.

1st Stop Personal Loans Limited (Company Number 08457740) is part of The 1st Stop Group (Company Number 05438114). Registered in England & Wales. Registered Office: 10 Whitehills Business Park, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY4 5LW. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Interim Permission Number 658742. Registered with the ICO under registration number ZA006742. Calls may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes. The guidance contained within this website is subject to the UK regulatory regime, and is therefore targeted at consumers based in the UK only.

As i say i have only had a quick look around, one article from 2014 and then took a look at their loans.

There must be other ways to borrow, the sheer amount of interest makes me feel quite faint.

Unless i am remembering past times when i made massive mistakes myself.

Not suggesting that you will, just brought back memories.

If you are in financial stress we can try to help you.And others will as well.

But up to you really,i apologise if i am not saying what you want to hear.

And i hope i am not appearing nosey.

Just popped in to have a look at your post.

Best wishes duncan102

I have a mortgage with GE ( I know big mistake)

I missed 3 payments 2 years ago (my sister was diagnosed with cancer - and eventually transferred to another hospital in a different part of the country from her and my home area so lots of expense -and believe me it was barbaric - she ended up on clinical trials - she died in March )

GE were swift to take me to court then for repossession in January 2014 - I owed just over £1,800 - I agreed in court to pay it off within a year, which I did and that agreement finished in January 2015.

I missed a payment at Christmas of £603, and they hounded and hounded me and I simply couldn't pay it. They told me the agreement I had in court for repossession even though I paid it all off, that if I defaulted again for whatever amount they could go for repossession with no further need to go to court .

I agreed in April I would pay £100 end of May which I did, and I would pay £300 end of June and £100 end of July. ( I also have received a letter from them giving me 2 days notice that GE has now transferred me to Kensington ( Which I fear as another sub prime lender there is danger ahead) and more - hope it makes sense -

at the same time in January 2014 I had a Lloyds TSB Credit Card and Loan - CAB negotiated a plan with them and I pay £25 on the credit card and £50 on the loan - I reclaimed PPI on the credit card, and then they transferred my accounts to their collections Robinson Way, and they constantly hound me to renegotiate with them to increase payment or pay it off. ( I should never have been given the Loan in the first place as when I went into branch, the person dealing with it put my partners contribution to me as my Salary and actually told me I wouldn't get it other wise.

More to follow -

Please, do a search of Credit Unions in your area and any that might operate in your workplace. They will be able to offer, amongst other things, (relatively) low cost loans with affordable repayment rates.

I am a member of a credit union through my workplace and have a fixed amount saved each week directly from my pay packet. It isn't a huge amount each week, but it slowly accumulates and gives me access to loans with an APR of 12.7%.

Hi Duncan102.

By coming here you must be in turmoil.A cry for help, which i understand, you do not know which way to turn.

Well you have come to the right place,we can help you or point you in the right direction.

Your income is

£1,050 pm. My outgoing are £1,250pm.

Does not mean much the hope of full time employment,it is not here at the moment.

I read your post about your sister and know how long feelings of bereavement to a close one can take to fade slowly in the mists of time.

Never forgotten but slowly not hurt as much.I hope i put that across sympathetically.

Also how much funerals etc can cost. Many thousands of pounds, that many do not have but proceed not realising at such a time how to pay for it.

Many people are struggling with problems like these across Great Britain as we speak.

I know about Kensington Mortgages,a subprime lender going way back. And the Brokers who used them to create carnage across Great Britain for many. And transfers to other subprime lenders when it suits, wherever they may be in the world of finance.

Putting offers to people who had nothing, and many fell for the smooth sales talk. And now regret it.

Across,America,Great Britain .

Your partner has left you sorry to hear that, so no income coming that way.

All i can say without knowing all details. Why 5 thousand is needed now.

Well i have read many stories over the years in the forums.

People who have gambled, owing huge amounts but easy to help.Or point in the right direction.

Loan Sharks who demand money now or else.

We can soon sort them out if needed.

Mortgage problems, well already one site team member has read your thread who has helped many hundreds of people over the years across Great Britain. When the impossible became possible.

Renegotiation of loans etc which really now income is not there from your partner can be achieved with help.

Which is here if needed.

I can tell the way you have written duncan102 you have now begun to,although hard your problem seems to you the process has begun to get back on track.Thrown out on one long post which i have tried to break down.

It seems duncan102 it is time to admit it,turn down the loan, forget it and take the help that will be offered.

We are part of a team and will not be threatened, intimidated,or worried by letters promising Armageddon if you do not pay.

We will negotiate and win, give you support and strength to overcome your problems whatever they are.

And you can join, but it is up to you.

May take a little time till your life turns round but it will.

Best wishes duncan102.

Tawnyowl.

The 5k debt I have is to a family member that was given in good faith over the course of my sisters illness. This debt needs without question needs to be paid back immediately as they are not in good health or in a financial position for it not to be paid immediately. It is imperative I make immediate payment back. I never expected things to turn out how they have - but I urgently need 5k loan and know I wont be accepted from mainstream lender,

Hi duncan102

Good that you have made your point clearly so what options do you have.

1- Take the loan, pay back relative.

2-Pay back relative over 4 years at same rate you would be paying loan, saving a heap of interest.

But income is not large enough to do that,i understand. And relative needs the money immediately.

3- Is the offer of loan conditional on a Credit Check being made,or has that already been made.

As i read that interest rates can vary massively for people who have bad credit records.

I apologise if you have already mentioned that,i have not had the time to read it all again.

4- When you get in difficulty paying the loan back, seek help then.

It seems your mind is made up really so whatever your decision i wish you well.

duncan102,i am no expert just a bloke on a forum who had a look at your post.

Others will advise more i am sure.

As you say,

I never expected things to turn out how they have

Bye for now.Best wishes.

Tawnyowl.

Hi duncan102

Just took a quick look back.

If we decide not to proceed with this agreement on the basis of information from a credit reference agency we must, when informing you of the decision, inform you that it has been reached on the basis of information from a credit reference agency and give you the particulars of that agency.

One last thing,i know you probably know but i am worried for you.

Remember this could if not paid back result in CCJs,Charging orders DCAs chasing and if mortgage not paid possible repossession proceedings.

I hope somehow you find another way.

Strangely enough their office is about one mile from where i am now.

Bye duncan102

Tawnyowl.

Thank you all for your replies. I am so stressed, the loan agreement has been credit checked and is ready for me to sign which I was going to do this evening, I really need to repay that 5k debt as imminent urgency

4- When you get in difficulty paying the loan back, seek help then.

It seems your mind is made up really so whatever your decision I wish you well.

Has made me stop. As you say When and not If

[/u] (I know deep down I will only get myself deeper into problems. ) There are other personal and ill health problems going on at the moment as well, I recently had a heart attack and had 3 Stents in, just back from Cardio Rehab this afternoon. I am so sooooo stressed. I have got to pay the 5K debt as a grave matter of urgency. I am going to try and sell everything I possibly can at the weekend. I also renovate and upholster Victorian and Edwardian Wooden Framed Furniture and I have got quite a bit of stock I have previously bought waiting to be completed. Which has been put on hold for obvious reasons as well as I now find it difficult to take the weight when moving it. But, I will just have to bite the bullet and get it done as quickly as possible. I know it wont be easy, as I am also trying to look for a full time job and my elderly Mother takes a lot of my time. (Just need a 8 day week and a 25 Hour clock)
