Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
hi, i have already started a claim v Lloyds bank and sent the first two letters.
i had an account with All and l which has been closed and sent to debt collection firm fredrickson international. i have been paying a small payment each month to try and clear the debt of around 2300.00.
this amount had around 1000.00 charges on,does this cause any extra problems ?
good luck to you all.
Hi and welcome. It is not so straight forward when DCA's are involved but you can still claim. I would start with a S.A.R - (Subject access request) to both the DCA and A&L and try to establish if the debt has been sold. During the 40 days you are waiting for them to comply read around the forums, especially FAQ's and step by step instructions and look in the Debt and bailiffs forum too for more detailed advice and information.
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

i really do not have a clue what to do with this one, i have sent S A R to both alliance and fredrikson.i have enclosed 10.00 to both.
I am sure the debt has been sold, but have to wait for statements anyway from all and leicester to work out amounts.
thanks for the help and going to take my time with this one.

Best to take it a step at a time, especially if you have a claim started already. You will probably find it helpful going through a simpler claim first so you get to know how it works, and will then be able to look at the less straightforward issues.

I have been told by the DCA that they are collecting on behalf of alliance and leicester but do not own the debt.
I guess that makes the claim a normal one if correct.I am waiting for my statements at present.
By a dca being involved ,does this make any difference even if they are only collecting the debt.
thanks for any help.
