Just over a week ago I started getting text messages from Newlyn

for me to contact them regarding outstanding council tax.

I had no idea what this was about and I haven't received any letters from them before so I have ignored them.

Day by day the texts have become more threatening.

Saying an enforcement agent will contact me to arrange removal of goods.

And now today I have one saying REMOVAL TRUCK BOOKED AT 4PM As per COURT ORDER to TAKE CONTROL OF GOODS

please RETURN home ,

TO AVOID ACTION CALL MR R*****R (PHONE NUMBER) Quoting REF:*****.

I have no intention of allowing anyone in until I know what this is regarding.

Any advice?

Do you owe Council tax?

Is there a Liability Order et out by the courts?

This could get bad quick... Ring Newlyns for info and ring the courts... Find out what is going on...

Have you not received any letters from either the Local Authority or Newlyns ?

Perhaps you also need to make contact with the Council - you must know if you have Council Tax Arrears ?

As Citizen B has said above, you would very likely know if you have council tax arrears.

Have you spoken to the council to find out whether a Liability Order has been issued?

Have you moved house recently?

Could it be possible that the arrears relate to a previous property?

If you have moved, did you provide a forwarding address?

Only in exceptional cases will I suggest allowing a bailiff into the property. This case is not one of them. If you do have a car however, then it is at risk of being taken into control by the bailiff.

As Ploddertom said, dont let them in - they have no right of forced entry - keep all your doors locked - they are not allowed to enter through open windows anymore, but given the reputation of some Enforcement Agents, it might be better to keep them closed.

Also keep your Car well away from your house so they can't seize it!!
