    Smile 1998 Mortgage redemption

    I have a redemption statement from the Alliance & Leicester from 1998. The Breakdownicon includes a repayment fee of £2,903.66 and a redemption charge of £60.00. Can I claim back either of these charges back? I have already claimed back £2,000 from the Nationwideicon in bank charges so I know the steps to take but I'm unsure about claiming early redemption charges.

    I think you might be time-barred on this one. As things stand at the moment we can only make claims going back 6 yearsicon.

    But do see what the guys on the mortgageicon forum say on this.

    All you have to lose is the court fee. If the interpretation of the six year limitation rule is that it is six years from when you found out that something was unlawful you will be fine. This is by no means clear cut, but I agree that the mortgageicon forum will offer more informed advice.
