Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have been lurking and learning for the past few weeks. I am in the process of setting up a parachute account so that I can reclaim the charges that have been leivied against me.
I am going after lloydstsb, Barclaycard, Black Horse Finance, Citicard, Top Shop (Capital One) for starters! Most of these charges occured when my little girl was seriously ill in hospital, direct debits began to bounce everywhere as I was not working and it all led to a spiral downwards from which, four years on, is still causing me hassle.
The only thing, is that I have some of the account numbers, but have no account numbers for Barclaycard and Black Horse Finance - I kind of just payed them off and then binned them - not a very clever filing system but there you go!
Can I still send a DPA letter without an account number?
The DPA request is for information held under your name - provide them with your name and address, and any other addresses you have had in the last 6 years, and it is then up them to find the information. Some people have more than one account - you only need send one DPA request per bank.

Advice given is purely my opinion, and is not based on any legal training.
I did exactly the same with my old Lloyds TSB statements (binned them) - about 6 year's worth - so I never even considered the possibility of getting anything back from them until I saw this thread.
Annoying since they also screwed me at a difficult time in my life, from which most of my current overcharging problems stem. It will be a lot, too, definately a four figure sum. In one year alone, my last year with them (two years ago) they took me for £862 (I don't know why but the figure still sticks in my mind).
My point is that with this info anybody in a similar situation can have a go now.
