I have got my statements from RBS and it shows Royalties charges, the problem that I have is since 2000 when I originally opened account, orginally I think the monthly charge was £9 for Royalties Gold account, which at some point within the next two / three years rose to £12, then in an extraordinary piece of complex marketing last year I suddenly became eligible to upgrade to Premier account with all the trappings and benefits, ( even though I could not get a £5 increase on my existing overdraft) My charges over the years have ranged from £9 monthly to sometimes £30 monthly.
This is all on top of interest charged and "other" bank charges.
How do I resprent this on my spreadsheet, when at Prelim stage, I want to send a list of charges. Do I estimate this or leave it out totally ?
Does anyone know why RBS do things this way ?? - is the difference charged between the true charge and actual charge claimable ? - ie £12 monthly charge Royalties Gold - charged £30 - claimable £18 ?

you claim the difference, between the royalties charge and the maintenance charge they took, the difference is probably for going over your agreed overdraft limit, which you can claim back, so if for example, maintenance charge was £30, royalties is included in this, say it was £12, you claim £18, i just put overdraft charge on my spreadsheet and the £18, i had loads of these, as was mostly over each month. hope this helps, anymore questions, p.m. me, happy to help, due to receiving full settlement last month.
Are you asking about the fees for having a royalties gold/silver/extra fancy/with knobs on account? if so, I don't think you can reclaim the charge on that as that's an opt in.
If it's the maintenance charge for errors (going over limit) that's claimable.
As far as I know the £12 ruling doesn't make a difference to what you can claim , I'm not deducting £12 from every charge to claim it, but we're in the early stages...
Thanks guys, for the responses. It seems that banks look for more than one way to rob you each month, to charge interest on top of maintenance charges and then fees on top of this - plus £38 for not paying a D/D - scandalous.... now i'm really mad !!!
