Hi

My circumstance have changed for the worst and I have a lot of debts to pay back.

I am planning to go back to my home country in order to find a job so I will be able to pay them back.

I have an overpayment I need to pay back and overdue payments for a storage unit.

I'm planning to let them know I'm going back.

My question is this:

Would I be flagged at passport control for my storage unit debt?

I know that I won't for the overpayment as I contacted them.

What exactly does passport control check?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Zazelle

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

The Border Control checks that you are who you say you are,

and gives the Border Force Officer info that will decide it they admit you into the UK,

right to enter, possession of a valid visa if you're a visa national, that sort of thing.

As dx100uk says debt is civil not criminal so wouldn't be flagged up if they checked your passport against the warnings index.

They will check for outstanding criminal warrants, terrorism flags or previous immigration offences.

People of note are usually flagged before you get to the officer as the Border Force have access to manifestos and advance passenger information,

so you really have nothing to worry about.

Ok thanks for the advice.

The only thing I'm worried about is if I do contact them to explain my situation

they tell me to pay it off before I leave,

which I really can't afford to do

so untill I have a stable job back in my home country.

As long as I tell them that I am willing to pay it off,

they won't give me any problems right?

No problems at all. If there is anything left in the storage unit, then give them permission to sell anything and to use the proceeds towards the outstanding account. If not nothing is being stored. just tell them you have left the UK and will not be returning.

We could do with some help from you.
