Hi,

I have a problem with my tv where it displayed pink vertical lines down the middle of the screen.

I phoned costco about a month before the 5 year warranty run out

they got a repair company to look at the tv.

The repair company turn up and looked at the tv and saw the problem and took photos of the problem

and said they would need to take it back to their workshop to fix.

Once they got it to the workshop they said they could not replicate the problem but cleaned the inside of the tv and returned it to me.

When I got the tv back the problem had gone until now 7 months later when my warranty has now run out.

I want to phone costco to see what they say but before I do I would like to know my rights are in this situation.

Mark.

Sorry i have put this is the wrong subforum can someone move this for me

The repair should have extended the warranty for that specific fault. You obviously have the original documentation of purchase,so I suggest you read SOGA Sale of Goods Act, online, then contact Costco and tell them you require the TV to be replaced as it is not fit for purpose.Put this in writing.

Was the 5 year warranty and add on that you paid for? If so never pay for extended warranty, the SOGA covers you for up to 6 years

Costco give 5 year free warranty on all TV's

I will read up on SOGA but would it not be best to first try to argue that the fix should last more than 7 months?

Yes for sure go for the ,repair should have lasted longer than 7 months,I would also at the same time state you draw their attention to the SOGA and should the repair not be carried out to your satisfaction this time you will be seeking for a replacement TV.

5years free warranty is fine

good luck

I doubt very much you'll get a replacement under SOGA.

5yrs for a tv is very good indeed.

best you ,ight do is get the current retail price for the same model

AFAIK a repair does not reset the warranty date nor carry any warranty itself..poss 3 mts at max.

you could argue the point that the repair does not seem to have held.

though again it could simply be dust build up
