Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
This is a fantastic site. I have been off work recently and in this month alone I have received over £500 in charges. I had no idea that this legislation came out and when I called A&L to ask for assistance I got no help at all! They are now the reason that i cannot meet my DD! Anyho DPA letter sent today - wish me luck!
As long as you have had a good read of the FAQs, so that you know what you are doing; and have read a few threads so that you know what to expect, you should be fine!
There will always be someone about if you need help.
Thanks. For the past 2 days i've been reading the FAQ's and the threads. I've already opened up a new bank account and arranged for my wages to go into this - I expect the worst from the A&L, they seem to be taking the hard line with all these complaints. I wouldn't have done this without the knowledge I have gained through this site, thanks to everyone posting their news.
They will take it to the point of going to court, then give in.

I dont understand why they do this as it will only cost them more in the long run - they must think people will get scared and drop the case - NOT ME THO!
How many times did you get the computer produced letter, I used to know the wording by heart, charging you £25 for a failed item and you rang up the poor call centre worker who told you it was all above board and set out in the terms and conditions etc. and give up in despair. They rely on that.
Well not any more! Go for 'em

Received a letter telling me they are putting a default on my account. I phoned and explained that I had already talked to someone and they agreed to hold my account till mid dec, which is when i can pay off the o/draft. They told me they need to continuously send me letters advising of my account status, which is costing me money!!! Cant wait to get them!

Write a letter and tell them that you are placing the account in dispute, and they should take no further action until the dispute is resolved. This is because you believe there have been unlawful charges applied to your account for which you will be requesting a full refund. You could also include your SAR and payment to get all the information they hold regarding your accounts.
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
Should you be offered help that requires payment please report it to site team.
