I recently had to replace two rather expensive cooker hood bulbs for an Electrolux hood, but as we had only been using the hood for 5 or 6 weeks I rang Electrolux first and requested them free of charge. Although I spoke to several different staff in their customer services they would only agree to reduce the price of the bulbs to £16 for the pair.

I purchased them but wasn't happy, as I felt that the bulbs must be very poor quality to only last 5 or 6 weeks. I therefore visited their internet site and gave the bulbs a poor review stating that they were poor value for money as they didn't last long at all, and that I felt they were not fit for purpose as they should last a reasonable length of time under the Sale of Goods Act.

A couple of days later I received an email from Electrolux telling me that they had not published my review because it was not moderate. I was shocked that they could do this. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? And are they actually allowed to do this if your review is honest and not abusive?

I emailed back and asked this question but they ignored me.

Well I would've thought that Cooker hood bulbs would last a lot longer than yours have done so!

So even though you have now paid for a new set, I'd still be contacting Electrolux & making a complaint. As this may or may not be an issue they are aware off.

I've found the CEO email address, try him & you could also write to their Head Office as well.

Electrolux CEO email;

[email protected]

Head Office address;

Electrolux,

Addington Way,

Luton,

Bedfordshire,

LU4 9QQ

As for your review, as it's your own honest opinion & as you stated not abusive, I cannot see any reason for it not to be published other than the fact they deliberately keep back or remove anything remotely negative!!

Which to my mind, isn't right. As you the Customer are entitled to your opinion of them!!

So If I was you I'd also bring this up to the CEO as well as their Head Office.....

I do hope you come back with more positive news, Good Luck!!

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every single minute of it!!

Thank you Rainbow Tears, I will definitely forward copies of all my related email correspondence to the email address you suggested and let you know how I got on, although I did speak to a number of different departments and people at Electrolux originally before finally being offered the reduced price bulbs, and no-one would offer FOC replacements which I thought they should have done. I'm more concerned that they can just choose to delete a genuine review than I am about paying for the bulbs.

Question: Do you have the number and ratings (voltage/wattage) from the original bulbs ?

Even discounted to £8 per lamp, it sounds very expensive unless it is an LED lamp - If it is an LED, then it should most certainly last a lot longer than a few weeks.

No... you can't eat my brain just yet. I need it a little while longer.

Mr.P, the lamp is a 28W halogen lamp, Electrolux' ref. 4055162582. I have just been on their website and notice that it is now £20 for the two bulbs needed (I think they have dropped the price by £4 each since I bought mine). As they are expensive and Electrolux' own, I expected at least 1 year of use. I did speak to several different staff at Electrolux, none of whom would offer anything in recompense, before I spoke to a supervisory person who sold me discounted bulbs at £8 each, which I still wasn't happy with. I have now emailed the address offered by 'Rainbow Tears' and am awaiting a response. I did not get a response from their web team when I asked by what right they took down my fair review.

Anything like this: http://www.ecat.lighting.philips.co.uk/l/oem/halogen-lamps-and-transformers/mv-halogen-without-reflector/ecoclassic-candle-b35/925639645501_eu//

If it is, you'd be shocked at the mark up Electrolux are making on them - One online retailer at random has them for £1.58

According to the manufacturer specifications, these lamps have a rated working life of 2,000 hours. A cooker hood would be on for perhaps a couple of hours each day, so it would be reasonable for the lamps to last a couple of years before they need replacing. When a lamp does need replacing, I'd be looking around local retailers & electrical wholesalers for a good price..

Mr P, Since buying some from Electrolux' website I have seen them for about £2/£3 in Sainsburys, but originally I did not know that I could get them elsewhere - very annoying!
