Im not sure if there is any threads concerning payment protection payments on credit cards...i have had a quick look about and havn't found any, so, ......
I have a credit card(cap one) which i am just about to start the process of claiming back the charges
I signed up for the card about 6 years ago...i was unemployed, and i told them this.
I was advised to take out the payment protection plan, so i did.
For the last 6 years then, i have been paying just over £5 a month to this payment protection plan.
When i was going through a rough patch concerning money, and the credit card started charging me, i thought, hey! i have payment protection...this should help! So, i phoned them up to claim.
I was then told I COULD NOT CLAIM A PENNY as i was not working....!!!!!!!!!!!AND i shouldn't have been given the option of taking out payment protection as i wasn't working when i got the card!!!!
Just over £5 a month is still being taken for this plan as i can't seem to cancel it...never getting through to the right people.
My husband is now in full time employment, do i qualify now for claimimg?
Is there anything i can do if i can't claim as to my calculations i have paid about £360 to this protection plan, seemingly for no reason!
That would just about cover my over limit amount aswell!
Thanks for your time and many thanks if you can throw some light my way!

First you have to cancel the PPI. You have to write to Capital One and tell them to cancel the PPI.
Ummm, they advised you take the PPI and they knew you were unemployed. Seems to be this has been mis-sold. Especially as they admitted they should not have sold this and they knew you were unemployed. Shame you haven't got a copy of that conversation.
Request your statement for this account and you will be able to find out how much you have paid.
Once you have those figures then claim the payments back, but first things first SAR (template letter in Library). send every thing recorded post and make sure you follow the proven step by step method.
We are claiming back PPI which did not know was on the card until we went down the S.A.R - (Subject access request) track and are claiming back the PPI payments. Still early days for us because we don't know how much we have paid in PPI payments.
If you get the wobbles just post and someone will reply
Thankyou...
When i last spoke to Capital One about the PPI, they told me they don't deal with it themselves.
I will contact them again and find out who i need to contact(last time i tried to claim on the ppi, i had to speak to a company differant from cap one....although it was cap one who sold me the ppi in the first place.
Do i send a SAR to cap one and also to ppi?
Sorry for sounding a bit dumb...there is so much to think about!
Thankyou again for advice..
