I've looked, but didn't find a suitable section to post a request for personal finance advice.

The type of forum would be where I could post my entire financial situation (not exactly debt related), and people could offer me advice on what I should do.

Does this exist here or is this something that could be added?

I'm 24, with an IT job working in central London. I've been in IT since I was 16, but my wages have only gone from £14k to £18k.

I used to share a 1 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend but had to move out as we couldn't afford it, I now live in my sisters box room which is big enough to get a bed and a wardrobe (although the wardrobe doesn't open because of the bed!). This situation is not ideal, she has 3 kids and her husband in the same small house (Honestly, prison cells are bigger).

I get £1200 a month, £300 goes to my sister, £220 to travel card, £120 for car insurance, £80~ for petrol for my car. The rest is for food, clothes, phone bill, other loans. I am usually left with less than £150 spare.

I have tried and failed to get some of my crazy idea's working, one of which I now owe several people £65 each with which I'm having to borrow from others to pay back.

My credit rating is also destroyed from a £15k bank loan someone talked me into getting for them.

I'm not sure what I am to do? It's starting to affect me badly.

OK

Looking from your situation I can pull the following you might want help with.

1) My credit rating is also destroyed from a £15k bank loan someone talked me into getting for them

Start a thread about the above.

List Lender,

Amount,

Which company owns the debt now if it has been sold on.

Where in the collection process are you? (If you are?) Have you received a N1 claim form etc?

ALso history on how you took out the debt for someone else. Dont use names just use "X" Although in my expeirence if the debt is take out in your name you have to accept that. Although your case might bring up other options.

2) I am seeing a lot of expenditure on Travel Card, Car insurance and Petrol. Im not seeing anything put by for road tax or insurance so that initially makes the situation look less rosey.

I am assuming you commute to work. Travel card = rail?

3) Other loans.

Again start a thread for each. same as 1 (but without the case h istory 1 will have)

Type of debt as well

You will be looking for PPI and if credit cards or PD loans looking for unlawful charges.

On the basis of what you have typed above, as frustrating as it is, its not quite close to the edge enough to panic BUT the good news is that there may be things you can do to bring back the balance :)

Personal Finance advice cuts 2 ways if you are solvent then you require little apart from how to manage it but most are struggling so then it becomes debt advice (as above)
