Has anyone actually won without going to court?

I didn't have to go to court.

I sent in my claim and won judgement by default when ltsb failed to send their defence within the 28 day time-limit.

The fact is that every single claim of hundreds vs Lloyds has been won without going to court. Have a look in the Lloyds successes forum for proof of that. Claiming from Lloyds is in a way easier than claiming from any other bank becouse of the McNamara interview evidance, and also becouse they use the good old "service charge" arguement in defence. This looks great on paper and may put a few people off, but in reality it would not stand up in court (IMHO) for one second.

Having said that, they do prevaricate and deploy stalling and delaying tactics at every opportunity, so it does take longer than most others. That does'nt really matter though does it? Just think of all the extra interest!!!
