Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've seen some good websites but this takes the biscuit, well done to all involved.
I joined last week and have spent umpteen hours going thru all thats available.
Just a couple of things I'm not sure about( i've looked everywhere on the site so the questions i'm now asking have either not been asked or the answer is unclear)
1/I've probably got all the statements i need, but is it best requesting the dpa, so they have to respond, or not, to the 'manual intervention' scenario. (i'm quite happy to go now, saving 40 days but if that's a relevant factor I would wait)
2/ The 'prelim' and the 'lba' both refer to 'x' amount + interest. Does that imply that the claim should include the interest charged over the period?
You have done the right thing by reading the FAQ'a and around the forum first.
1)Yes you need the proof of no manual intervention as that is the excuse they are using for the charges , so once you have the proof there has been none then thats that part of any defence blown out of the water
2) you do not need to worry about the interest unless you have to start a claim against them .By that time you will have read even more of the forum and threads so will have a clear indication of what you are doing re the interest.
