hi folks, sent my s a r to barclaycard regarding account i had with them up till may 2004 and enclosed the £10 fee, got statements from them but was from May 2004 till 2006 after i closed my account with them, and saying anything prior to this i would have to enclose another £3 fee for each statement i need.
i then sent them another letter, and included in that letter data protection act and the information commissioners notes on this, which i got on this site, and again recieved another letter back from them which was almost the same letter i got saying i would have to include £3 fee for every copy i wanted, as they are now all on microfiche,
i am in the middle of writing to the information office to complain, has anyone else having the same problems, any ideas where to go from here??
any help would be really appriciated thanks
hello stevieboy
What is happening with you and Barclaycard.
I have twice requested information relating to charges impposed over the last 6 years only to be told they cannot supply it. Following telephone calls they now want to charge me £216.00 which equates to £3.00 per statement (x 72 for last 6 years).
Hi both. Had the same problems and have a) complained to the ICO b) held my ground with Barclaycard. Have got SOME statements back but not all. They CANNOT charge you for these, £10 is max.
I have just sent another request to Barclaycard (along with a cheque for £10 only) complaining about their stalling tactics. I have also reported this to ICO.
I have only allowed 7 days as I have been chasing this since 21 November and think they have had long enough.
From info I have they probably only owe me about £60 but it is mine not theirs.
Thanks for the info (good thread)
Anji
i have also just complained to the info commissioner about barclaycards stalling tactics , though they haven't as yet given me the £3 per time for my statements letter.
Barclaycard are sailing REALLY close to the wind here. They've already had an information commisioner ruling against them on the microfiche issue, and are still trying to put up barriers to letting out the charges information, which belongs to us. it is disgusting.
I am about to issue a claim in court to get then to honour my DPA request, i will draw their attention to the identitiy of the Barlclaycard data protection office holder, Peter Townsend, as he could be imprisoned over further breaches. the courts are not going to be happy. it seems there are a flood of DPA requests not being honoured and a queue of people waiting to go to court about this.
