Sent off letters to 3 Banks requesting statements, Halifax, Lloyds TSB and MBNA on 16th September.
Yesterday got the first pack of statements back from lloyds TSB, it goes back over 9 years and is the size of a thick book. Should I claim for all of these years or just 6.
Also got a letter from MBNA stating there fees are clear and up front but in the interests of customer satrisfaction they are refunding 270.00, if I want to 'unfairly' claim then to send for a list of charges with a cheque. I already sent them one but they sent it back. Silly me can't find the letter to return it but I will send them a letter and cheque advising them to continue with the claim. I will also put everything into 1 place. Halifax the bank I am currently with asked for a cheque despite me sending them one. It is scary and I think I need to take some time off work but will keep you posted with the progress, its a bit scary too but will be worth it as they have ripped us off big time over the years. In fact Halifax recently charged us £30.00 for paying a £10.00 cheque despite us being within the overdraft limit. Contacted them and they refunded it but I may not have noticed it if I had not been aware of the charge [problem]. Thanks in advance for any comments.
1st don't take on to many banks at one time as that can be overwhelming, any bank will do anything to slow the claim down so i would tell MBNA you want your charges break down.
Make sure any cheques sent have not been cashed and make sure you cancel any you duplicate.
and get your self a big table
follow the links at the base of this post if you get lost around the site and make sure you open a new claims thread under each bank name under the "list of bank" link at the base of this post
I have received the statements from Lloyds tsb. The charges started off at £5.00 a month then got into silly amounts which add up to a total of £2000.00 over 6 years. They did send 10 years of records but looking at all the information it seems I can only claim for 6 years. Now for the question, Do I list the £5,00 charges or just the ones of above this , it varies between 5.00 and 39.00. Also interest charges have been included, should I add these as well or not. I plan to sort out TSB first as they have sent the statements out already.
Thanks for your help.
you should now have a thread in the main section the answer to this question is on many threads around the board.
Open a v's tread under Lloyd's and away you go, ask your question in your thread and read plenty of others threads in Lloyd's.
At this time the charges like direct debit failure, standing order failure, exceeding overdraft, returned cheque
Basic account charge is not claimable, the interest is dealt with further along once you have diagnosed your charges and the amounts.
use the interest calculation link at the base of this post, input you charges and what they where for, this helps keep a correct listing that you can change as and when.
