    Thanks for this Reload. I'm really aprehensive about starting this claim b ut simultaneously feel that Lloydsicon were exceptionally harsh and unhelpful when I was in the middle of a rather nasty insurance claim in 2004, so I reckon I should chase them. Why should they be allowed to keep money which should rightfully be mine?

    During that spell of turmoil in which my health was affected as well as my home, I was going in person to the nearwest Lloyds branch (couldn't live in my home so was put up in alternative accommodation) with letters from my insurers stating what cheques, with the amounts, they were issuing to me but the bank wouldn't budge one inch regarding helping me out. They slapped charge after charge on my account during that claim time adding to the thousands of pounds out of which the the insurers "did" me.

    I supose the dyslexia doesn't help my confidence in successfully handling such a claim.

    The help of all you generous people on here is invaluable to me. Thank you all very much indeed.

    Have you got all your bank statements to calculate your charges? If you click on the link below it takes you to the spreadsheets that help you to calculate the total and the interesticon. It is actually in Google but has been set up by Vampiress. It takes you to her chambers, where Vamp or someone else will often be found and can help you through. Spreadsheets might sound scary, as might Vampiress and her Chambers, but the only ones who need to be afraid are the banks.     If it's possible to send or post a pic on here, I'll send one. Got another two cakes to make today.

    1) for a friend's wee laddie and

    2) for my daughter. Got her birthday date mixed up with her age. Age is 24 birthday's on 27th. Wheeeew! reprieve. Haven't decided exactly what decoration for her cake but that usually develops as I make it, anyway, so unperturbed as yet.

    You'll have to direct me regardiing or uploading pix.

    I have put the address of my branch in the heading but I thought to hand it in at my local branch and request a receipt so that they cannot claim it was enver received. Not that I don't trust the bank cough, cough .

    We'll orgnise something, regarding the other matter, when you get back to me on the pm. Okay?

    Now remember, I need foolproof guidance a la mode d'eejit:

    1) to where and whom do I address this initial, S.A.R - (Subject access requesticon) letter requesting the information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998? I propose hand delivering the leter to my local branch although they are not the branch which holds my account but they are always telling me that I can conduct my business in any branch. I'll be asking for a receipt.

    2) to whom do I make the postal order payable?

    3) can I reclaim form bank accounts which I haven't used (presumable they're closed,) in a number of years (since 2000 maybe 2001)?

    4) what about business acounts which have been long closed?

    Yip, I did rememebr to inlcude my account numbers in the letter, Martin You're getting to know me. ;-)

    I sent my data protection act letter to my local branch. Got my statements in 3 weeks.


    Make the postal order to Lloyds Tsb Plc in fact they are printed off for you these days at the post office.Make sure you keep the reciept for the postal order as you will need this to cash it if they return it (unlike the old style )
    Yes you can go back 6 yearsicon......this should be taken from the date you first told the bank you were aware of the unlawful charges and have evidence to support that ie letter to them.
    Closed accounts are ok to claim whether open or closed.
    Now theres enough to keep you busy.
    Unfortunately I will be away for a few days attending to some personal stuff however I am sure Olliebear will advise you if you get stuck !....

    Why would they return it?????? The Postal order, I mean.

    Hmmm, regarding the 6 weeks thingy, someone on one of the threads said that the banks cannot call in the 6 year restriction.

    Anyway, can sort this out when I get the letter handed in.

    Will get it done today.

    Don't suppose you know which bank address should go on teh ehading of the letter, do you? My own banch or the one to which I'm handign the eltter?

    Well, I handed in my letter today and I have a receipt for it.

    The girl at the desk was so nice, pleasant and even encouraging. She went, of her own volition, and checked to see if I'd had any other accounts with the bank so that I could include them. Then she wished me luck as I left.

    She said that she thought Lloydsicon weren't taking the £10 fee from folks but just sending the statements. I told her to take the postal order anyway and that they could give it back if that was their policy.

    Oh well, that's one down.

    See if somebody had a Visa card, which got way out of hand, and the bank transferred the balance to a loan , what happens there? It was a debit with, eventually, an OD facility wot got well over the limit at one point, although my branch knew about it as it happened.

    What's the word on how far back our reclaiming goes? Are we resrticted to the 6 yearsicon?

    So far, I've received conflicting reports.

    2nd November 2006: 1st letter, requesting back statements, hand delivered to lloyds TSB: got receipt.

    I have received the information on my accounts going back 6 (six) years but not going back to the begining of my hsitory with the bank, as I requested.

    Think I'd best send a letter suggesting they send the lot and informing them that I have already paid the £10 for such information.

    Mairi's awaiting my details so that she can help me work out the interest due on the charges taken.

    Personal: growing and changing while ever remaining the same. Get to know me and tell me what I'm like coz I can't figure me out.

    Just go back 6 yearsicon for now VS. When you have all those charges back, then try for the rest in a seperate claim. That way if the second claim fails, at least you will be assured the six years worth.

    When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
