I've often wondered why a claimant wouldn't wait for as long as possible to issue a claim and accrue 8% interest rate. ...

its been held that they shldnt do that ie wld be seen as unreasonable, and around 1 years worth is seen as reasonable. as seen in some of their particulars which state 'up to 1 year' or the like re stat interest.

 

if someone does have judgment against for the capital amount, then it is still open to dispute the interest claim on that basis if it is over 1 year. depends on the circs.
