Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have been speaking with the ICO this morning and know that Barclaycards visit went ahead.
I haven't had any specific information about their system so its difficult to be certain what went on.
What i did do was discuss my companies records, we hold personal data for our employees in folders as do many small companies.
it seems that now the ICO are changing their guidance on manual systems that even these folders will be caught within the meaning of a relevant filing system.
It therefore seems unlikely that Barclaycards system will be any different to Abbeys fiche or my paper records in folders.
So if you haven't had your data and have followed the step by step guide complain to the ICO and copy Barclaycard in on the correspondence.
If you have complained then I suspect the process will be the same as for the Abbey. that is that once they have finalised their view of the system they will ultimately write to you giving their findings.
Don't hold your breath it has taken a while for them to get the abbey letters out but it may be quicker bearing in mind they have been there once already.
