hi guys...

Wonder if anyone can help me? My husband was (stupidly) looking around for a payday loan. He received a call from a company promising the earth (as they do). He was advised there was a fee to pay but was told that this amount would come out once he had the loan.

A few days later (29 July to be precise)£54.96 was taken from our joint account.

Since this date he has called numerous times (and emailed) and asked for a refund. We sent a letter recorded delivery requesting the refund to their registered address in Manchester but this was returned as "refused". He spoke to them again and was given another address which we again wrote to. We have heard NOTHING!

He called last Monday and spoke with someone who said she would process a refund and it could take 7 days (would be minus a £5 admin fee) but the money still hasn't arrived. He called to chase this and was told it had been done (they aren't very helpful).

Not really sure where to go with this now but to be honest we really need the money back :mad2:

Fees

10. We charge a fee for providing the service of acting as a finance broker. We specify the fee as part of our communications with You. If You do not enter into a loan offered by a lender or financier within 60 days we act for You we will refund the fee less the £5 brokerage fee provided for by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Refunds must be requested in writing to avoid repayments being sent to a wrong address. To facilitate Us processing payments and repayments You authorise Us to retain your charge, credit and debit card details. If a lender or financier makes You a loan or finance offer, in addition to the fee We may also receive a variable commission from the lender or financier (more detail is available on request) and You agree that We may retain it.

12. Under Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004 you have a right to cancel your application within 14 days of receiving these terms and conditions and receive a refund. If You wish to cancel your application, You must write to Loan Spotter UK notifying us. In this event We will refund your fee within 30 days of the date on which You write to Us to cancel your application. Any such requests should be made to: Customer Service Department, Loan Spotter, 53 Fountain Street, Manchester, M2 2AN.

Wonder where your refund is.

You must be fuming.

Where to go if has not been returned this week.Is probably to the F.O.S.

More info soon.

Why do you have to write.

I know it is terms and conditions.

But why.You did not write when you originally contacted them.

They have it seems a signing on page, why do they not have a changed my mind page.

Sound a shady lot.

Hi...

The manchester address you highlighted is the initial address I wrote to and it was "refused" (having looked up the address it's the address of loads of businesses). Ii was then given another address to write to which I have. I have also emailed thousands of times on his behalf and just get an automated response back despite addressing it as "formal complaint" etc. I have also been in touch with Action Fraud and Trading Standards but just got general responses back from them.

It's difficult as it is in my husbands name therefore I can't ring and give them a piece of my mind. He works long hours and the 0844 is extortionate from his mobile.

I Apologise for the red ink.I found some info and copied it.

I assure you we will get to the bottom of this.

I can not stand people getting ripped off.

What exactly do Action Fraud and Trading Standards say.

You will get your money back, but have to wait.

I would not ring them one more time.Loan Direct that is.

I may even be thinking of asking for my call charges back as well.

Which was the address you finally wrote to

Is this the company.

If not i will edit.

It was a Birmingham address, Fort Dunlop or something (can't remember off the top of my head). It was just generic responses from Action Fraud and Trading Standards basically relating to broker fees. I have just on your advice emailed FOS on my husbands behalf.

I am really, really annoyed. Husband has actually just walked in from work and rang them (again) and they said that it was processed on 19th (this Monday)!!!!!!!!! God I am fuming.

Well i suppose it seems to be you should receive tom or Friday.

But they said it would be processed last Monday, not this Monday.

I will now look for a few other things about them. And better contact details.

Try to get more up to date info.

For others who may have this problem

Such strange reviews.They have.

Some of them i feel,i had better not put on here.

Maybe one or two.

http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/loanspotter.co.uk

Contact your bank and ask to raise a dispute as 'refund not received' under the Visa chargeback scheme. Generally they will ask for a refund voucher to prove it was offered in the first place, but if you explain the situation they may be able to help...the banks are more aware of these loan brokers than you may think

Maybe call your bank up and see what they say.

I would not waste any more money calling loanspotter.

At 10 p to 30 p a minute which they probably receive up to 4 p a minute for the vault.

Maybe for a while time to calm down..

For a hour or two anyway.

And it may seem a strange time to say this.

But have you considered joining your local credit union.

As your husband is working. Not that it matters whether working or not.

XMAS clubs, loans at fair rates, many things.

Just in case.

Find your local one

http://www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/home

I have spotted your post below, rockyrover.

Maybe others would like to comment.

Sorry.....was typing away whilst annoyed.

Basically it looks like the girl my husband spoke to last Tuesday never did the refund. When he called and chased it this Monday (and was told refund had been done), I think they may have realised they hadn't sent it and processed it then. They say it can take 7 working days. I might add though that not once have they (either in writing or on the phone) acknowledged the written request that was sent.

Just done a little bit of looking on the internet and the Birmingham address is shown on http://www.loanspotter.net/ but yet if you go to http://www.loanspotter.co.uk/ it shows the Manchester address. Two identical websites.......hmmmm very dodgy!!!!!

I have just called my bank (Lloyds TSB) and they have informed me that there is nothing that they can do because

i (my husband) gave them the card details.

i tried to argue the fact that they have broken their "promise" etc

and about the different websites etc but it didn't wash with them

it seems I am now still at the mercy of Loanspotter.

Another interesting point is that on my bank statement "loanspotter" is spelled incorrectly (loanspoter).

This company needs shutting down.

This is disappointing.Who did you speak to at the bank..

Chargeback troubleshooting

If you have any trouble when putting in a claim to your credit or debit card provider, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Chargeback is not very well known about and some bank staff may not be aware of this rule.

If your card provider rejects your chargeback claim, you can take your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service within six months of your final correspondence.

Of course the payment may be on its way .

Last Monday or Tuesday they say it will be processed.

You find out it was not.

This Monday the same.

Not received yet.

Not very good customer service at all.

I am beginning to take a dislike to the Brokers.

Perhaps you feel like contacting Lloyds again this way.

Will be back later.

That was my worry (after reading the review links you posted), that they are just keeping us quiet for a few days by telling us the refund has been processed and then hoping that we just forget about it.

I have written to Lloyds TSB at their customer care address formally requesting a "chargeback" and giving all of the details on the company etc and details of the conversation I had with the rather unhelpful bloke on the telephone banking dispute team. If this fails then I will have to complain to the FOS. It just feels like no-one wants to know and these cowboys can just get away with it. Wonder how many people have been scammed and just given up??

I will continue to update this thread and hopefully if someone else is in the same situation it will encourage them to fight for their refund!

Thank you for your help / support. I really appreciate it :-)

Loanspotter seem to be in a league of their own. When you read the reviews on the internet everyone is saying the same thing....they are "duped" into believing fees will come out after a loan is received. Then not to mention the duplicate websites giving different registered addresses. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm starting to get riled again now lol

Hi rockrover.

The thread has begun.

We will try to get to grips with them.

We have been having a go at the payday lenders.

Maybe time to have a look at their chums, the brokers.

Your thread is still ongoing, and we have not finished yet.I promise you that for sure.

Here is the thread..

Well surprise, surprise no refund in the bank this morning :mad2:

Also I have found yet another website for them giving another registered address (this time in Essex).

So, so far we have:-

http://www.loanspotter.co.uk

53 Fountain Street, Manchester M2 2AN

Company Registration:06907433

Consumer Credit License: 628451

Data protection: Z17883743

http://www.loanspotter.net

Fort Dunlop, Fort Parkway, Birmingham, B24 9FE

Company Registration: not given

Consumer Credit License: not given

Data Protection: not given

http://www.loan-spotter.co.uk

10 Buckhurst Road, Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex, Tn40 1qe

Company Registration: 07380779

Consumer Credit License: 0644553

Data Protection: Z3479775

I found an email in my spam (right bloody place for it) for the receipt for the card transaction that they processed. The http://www.loan-spotter.co.uk website was given as a contact........interesting too though as the loan-spotter.co.uk website gives the contact address as Manchester on their terms of use page.

When searching using the public register http://www.loan-spotter.co.uk seems to be under the name of Direct Collect Ltd and the address given on the register is a Cardiff address (not Essex as per their website) and the director given is Samuel Leonard-Williams. The public register also gives another website but that one doesn't appear to be working http://www.loans-direct-uk.co.uk

Hi rockrover.

Still following your thread closely.

I am later going to work out a letter to send to the loan spotter outfit.

It may get special delivery straight through the --mmm better not write that.

I am fuming over the way they treat people.

If they or anyone on here think it is is not that good.

Please devise one that possibly will improve on mine.

Or if anyone can suggest one ,before i do,please do.

Time is pretty limited today.

I would welcome it.

I have to calm down for a while,so better not write it yet.

The reviews etc about this outfit say it all.

They speak with forked tongues.

And we are going to have a good go at them.

For sure.

And let some newspapers know about this problem.

We are going to go on a mission.

Ever heard the words Loanspotter if you come on here.

You are beginning to wind up the wrong people.

And all the other predators, brokers, whatever you want to call yourselves, who are targeting people and communities of this land.In this way.Look out.

Your time is coming.

Enough for now.

Tawnyowl.

Thank you tawynowl, like I said before I really appreciate your help. You are giving me light at the end of a tunnel and encouraging me not to give up on it.

I look forward to your letter although not sure which of their numerous addresses I shall send it to lol x

You should have the bosses home address so send one there by recorded as well, after all, it will be him you will issue a claim against.

I was thinking that I should send a letter to all of the addresses (Manchester, Essex, Birmingham & home address) and send them all recorded delivery. I know that this would cost but to be honest it is more a matter of principal now. I know that the Directors address is in the public domain but legally can I write to him there?

I forgot to emphasis that you should be making a demand on your bank to do the chargeback, they know what it's all about, they are just too lazy to want to have the bother.

Another showing that banks just don't give a stuff about you or any of their so called customers, all they are interested in is getting your money.

Right...........just had a really awful thought after reading various other threads started on Moneysavingexpert website. Someone was saying that they had money taken again 6 weeks later. Now this puts me between a rock and a hard place because if I cancel my card they can't refund the money. If I don't cancel my card it leaves them wide open to take more money??????? What should I do?

Hi

I think it is safe to say that loan-spotter is the company you dealt with rather than the others listed above.

On the credit licence page, the Manchester address does not appear therefore, I would send a letter to their registered address:

Samuel Leonard-Williams

Caspian Point,

1, Caspian Way,

Cardiff,

CF10 4DQ,

Wales

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.
